System Pics 2020

Funny that, I find that a nice heavy woolen cardigan helps disguise the misshapen bulges! :joy:

The consequences of a very hungry person probably…

However I find it quite intrusive in the room, there are less intrusive options which also work great. My panels are almost not there…

Hi Bert.
I would agree with you. I think you have more choice on the European continent of really aesthetically pleasing panels. From ‘piece of mind’ and convenience I chose to go with UK based GIK. Also when you start the room treatment venture up, I found myself a little bit clueless, as to how much I was actually going to need. Hence I ended up matching the sidewall range limited absorbers to the 2 first I bought. However good absorbers may look though, it is impossible as in my case to make over a 100 kilos ( ie volume) disappear to the critical eye. I this respect I’m lucky both to have an understanding wife, but also the fact that it is only a listening room. Our lounge forms part of a big open space kitchen/diner/ lounge area thankfully. Hi Bert,

There are, indeed other options.
Considering that one of the main acoustic problems in a room are frequencies below 250 Hz the following might be of some interest.
A discrete solution and probably more effective than most of the bass traps on the market.

You lot would be good at the tray game: camera, woolly cardigan, book, concertina, glasses, bank fob, pen… maybe I’ll delete the post and test you.

Chaps, I wonder if we need to move our room treatment lark over to Thomas’s great thread, as we will have rotten tomatoes flying around our heads soon. :face_with_head_bandage: ATB Peter

NAP 250DR arrived in a thrashed box but works anyways. Damn postal services. Now playing ndx, NAC 82, Hicap DR, napsc and offcourse NAP 250DR.

Highly emotional right out of the box or it just might be me being highly emotional for whatever reason😊

Keep the box nonetheless, in case you want to swap your 250DR for a 300DR…

Nice to see another NHL fan. Do you follow the Caps or the Flyers, or someone else?

(EDIT: Doh! Should have seen the shirt on the wall! Flyers it is.)

A couple of changes from last year. The SN2 to replace a XS and FC, a re arrange to get the left speaker out of the corner. And a new Battersea poster.

@varyat

I was looking at System Pics 2019 the other day and saw you had both an LP12 and a Helix 2, I wanted to ask about your experience of the LP12 compared to the Helix 2.

I saw that System Pics 2019 was closed so asked Richard the best way to reply to your System Pics 2019 post and he suggested I reply in System Pics 2020 using @varyat.

Anyway any info would be very much appreciated.

Hi Yorkshireman-Happy to share…
Could you give me an idea of what you are interested in knowing?
In general, the Helix2 is a significant step up from my LP12, but as you know, there is a lot more to a system than just one component.
As a comparison in the Naim world, its like going from a 252 to 552, plus a bit more :grinning:
