My system is a brand new Nait XS2, fed by a Rega P8 (currently into a Rega Fono but shortly to be a Rega Aria) alongside a Marantz CD6000 KI Signature CD. This all goes to a pair of Rega RS3 speakers with NAC A5 cable
It is a one-off piece by Dutch designer Piet-Hein Eek, famous for his use of scrap wood. We see it as a piece of art that you can use, as a good example of the Dutch Design movement.
Think of it as the bench of a picknick table. The matching table was absolutely huge. The designer never got round to making the second bench, or it was intended to have seats on the other side. Table and this bench were sold off seperately via an art gallery and it has been in our household for 15 years.
Everyone loves it it’s thickly coated in epoxy which gives a nice tactile feel. We move it around from time to time inventing new uses for it, now used to browse through the books and LP records in the Expedit.
ps: This discussion is surely allowed here as I use the furniture to cue my vinyl
The Expo monos are the best match for the GX300s, system, and room. Still warming up (broken in already, as they’re used), and already sound/play music better than any of the other amps I’ve tried over the past few months. I’m delighted.
Music - everything from Lassus to Husker Du to Ulrich Schnauss.
Compared to the Belles (and understanding it’s early days) - the Expos have the authority/solidity of the Belles, and also have more drive, and, interestingly (to me, at least), they provide better musical and spatial separation. I’m quite delighted. Power amp - solved!
Sounding great. Getting better with some running in time. Decided to change room layout again. Everyone in the house finally agreed it is the best layout including me as it gives the speakers more room to breathe. I have a better listening position and can maybe position some acoustic panels more effectively in the future. I do however need longer speaker cables so am going to give witch hat phantom a go. It may also allow for larger floorstanders. Will however need to remove the fireplace, decorate and new sofas!!!
It has what could be classed as system synergy between the Rega P8 and the Naim XS2. The Marantz CD player is also great quality and an overly bright player for my system either, which is good.
Plenty of upgrade route too for me next starting with a Rega Aria phono stage and in the future maybe a good streamer or DAC.
