Timeless and tasteful. Looks like a very nice place to relax and enjoy music.

I’m not sure Phil whether you are referring to the Christmas Eve just past or not, but my condolences. Sounds like your mother had a great innings, and I agree that grieving is an important process.

My sympathy to you and to @MIKEVET. I lost my Dad in October 2017 and my Mum in March 2018 so I know how you are feeling. Even though they lived to be 90 and 88 and so their passing was not totally unexpected, nothing can really prepare us for the loss of a loved one. Support from friends can go a long way to comforting one though so let them help. You will find friends here on the forum too!

Hey Cardoso
yes, ELAC speaker - FS247 - and bought the prior to my Uniti2. The speakers have are tremendeous good in the mid and upper range, but one need to take care not pair them with “fast” cables - it will be too much then. And same apply for amplifier as well - they are working fine with the Uniti2.
And lower end the FS247 seems to be a little too demanding with respect to required control provided by the amplifier. Recordings with fluffy bass remain fluffy. While looking for the Uniti2 I compared with some T&A all-in-one (don’t know exactly if it was the R1000E or its predecessor), which was providing more control at lower end, same performance at mid and high, but was slightly limited in spatial reproduction.
Meanwhile I moved, and not perfect match at lower end became more recognizable, but probably the FS247 are not good a good choice for the new room (increased size, location of speaker, less damping), they have been for the last one.

That looks really nice. The carpet looks identical to ours.

Never eard it. Must be good material also.

FR - what is under the TT? It looks like 2 layers of something on top of the rack, but I can’t be sure.

Thanks Steve. Barely 18 days ago. You will appreciate this photo. We are the generation that can still remember those times. Much as we like our modern life, there is a lot that was good about those times. I wish young people could have a childhood that involves nature more! I think if we don’t get a grip on the climate thingy it may be forced on us.

A sandwich of two granite bases. 5cm .

I like specially these Townsend podiums. Some don’t like its look, I like.c

How much do they weigh? I would think quite a bit. They look pretty nice in addition to their stability.

I had before an SME turntable, which liked heavy granite base. However, for the Rega, the top one , black , 3cm, would be enough. But they are glued now and don’t know how separate them.
I feel the total weight is probably 20 kg.

Well I think they look really cool. And at least they will keep you fit and strong when you have to move them!

When I move it, I can put it on the sofa next the rack. So not a big effort. I like granite too, it’s very neutral and works great with turntables. Not expensive too, less than 150 euros.

My condolences too; I understand how you feel, my father passed away on July 29th and my father-in-law, still young, on October 25th, the cancer took both.

In terms of climate change and the one that is coming, if we fail to reverse the way we interact with other species and mother nature, it will not leave us even the rural and simple ways of life; let us be conscious, let us act and communicate through the universal language of music, and not the atrocious language of war.

Nobody will dare to say “ stay in the topic “, or someone very politically incorrect.

My condolences to you also. I sometimes think it’s too easy to get buried in music to the distraction of what is happening in the real world.

A friend posted on FB a interesting critique of Greta Thunberg - Google Jason D Hill letter. Maybe this needs a new thread, but I don’t like these heated topics. Actions speak louder than words. We have these wonderful HiFi systems (to avoid thread drift), but we could be making music instead and sharing our lives with others in the real world. Civilised society is being wrecked by the internet. Of course it has helped to expose the the past wrong doings. Lots of major reviews are needed by our governments.
