You remember the old room well Dave! New piece is by an unknow artist that goes by the name of Paul Stanley Look forward to you experiencing the ‘near listening’ conundrum and hearing your opinion.
Still use Moving Pictures as my reference album
I have a question for those who have guitars and basses hung on the same wall as your speakers. Do the speakers make the guitars vibrate and emanate sounds?
I ask, because I have space close to one of my speakers to hang a guitar. I was afraid the speaker would make the strings on the guitar make sound and interfere with the sound.
I am specifically looking to mount an Epiphone Viola bass on the wall in close proximity to my right speaker. Can it distort the sound?
It will definitely make the strings vibrate - only you can decide if it detracts from your listening experience.
mute it like I do
New box (ND5XS2/Qobuz) in place and warming up.
Audio quality is already so far ahead of it’s predecessor (ND5XS/Tidal) that I am anticipating having my earsocks knocked off come Monday evening after the 3-day cook.
I agree with @DrMark, but it’s always best to keep instruments in their cases when not being played. This is particularly important for acoustic guitars and other stringed instruments to help prevent the wood drying out.
There are plenty of ways of damping the strings so they don’t resonate sympathetically.
It’s less easy with ‘real’ pianos where the top couple of dozen notes usually have no dampers on the strings. Their decay time is very short, but it can be a problem nonetheless.

I haven’t posted a picture of the system for awhile. The sun streaming in on a cold Winter morning made me want to share a picture or two.
This is the room we spend most of our time in. Kitchen, dining & living in the same room.
Cheers
What is that little box to the side of centre speaker that stands on 3 cones?
Looks like a Apple TV on spikes.
Your room is amazing
Great photo.
Auralic Aries Mini streamer. Sitting on Nordost Sort Kone AS. I bought those cheap just to try out. Worth the money? Doubt it. Lol
Big speakers joined by “little cousin”
Also the “rat’s nest” behind the Fraimlite. All the linear power supplies in a MusicLine Mainsblock. The order from bottom to top: SN2, nDAC, Allo Shanti. All SMPSs on a separate mains block.
Some demos for the empty shelf are to follow soon, but that’s a story for a new topic…
Funny thing, I took a similar photo yesterday. I was worried that my Apheta 3 was riding too low, but I think it’s ok. The record is a heavy 200g clear vinyl.
Great space ‘H’ nice to see another Ovator fan
There are quite a few of us lurking in the background. We just don’t go on shouting about it like the SL2s gang!
The nice thing about the design of the Rega MCs is that it’s easy to see when the stylus rake is optimal, as the back of the cantilever where the coil windings are should be central to the magnet
