NHS stands for Natural Hifi Support?
I just went back to Neat, but the Q10 is amazing. They work with Nait 2 but perhaps with their scale is more of a first system speaker?? I also found 32 a Little warmer than Nait 2 which might be good for Q10.
I have seen a few other systems here like this one that use an “alcove” in the room for the stack - perfect utilization of otherwise nearly ususable space! And looks good too.
May I ask why you switched from the Tilsbury ?
It looked an interesting concept.
Thanks
Ian
I miss my B77…kept all my tapes and am trying to find a A77 mkIV or a B77.
Just sold my beautifully restored B77. Shame to see it go but I never used it! I have a partially restored Mk2 in the loft and now I’m retired I might eventually do something with that. Nice to look at though!
Reel to Reel decks definitely have an aesthetic appeal all of their own.
I too have a Revox B77 that is never used but still has pride of space in my study, although I also have a beautiful restored Pioneer RT-909 that does get the occasional workout in my hi-fi system.
Although not as much as it should, It still gets used. That is my pride and joy!
I switched from the Tisbury which is an excellent little preamp and for less than £200 one of hifi’s true bargains to another passive pre hand built by a very talented individual who trades under the name BTE from there I had intended to go further up the chain to the Townshend Allegri + but discovered this pure analogue preamp by Quad which reemploys the Tilt EQ made famous on the 34 I think and has got very good reviews.
Since I have Quad Elite QSP power amp I thought I’d try it and found a very reasonable unit just a couple of months old that I could sell on without loss.
Office system completed today with the addition of the ATC SCM7 in white! I have had cherry on demo for some months and feels good to get these bad lads fleeted in. Total aesthetic change and much more to my taste tbh. Total system cost £5k!! Incredible considering it cost less than one of my PS555’s!! Nova is just amazing!! I listen more to this system than the main one and I never feel short changed. Different but both great!
Nova, Powerline, Catsnake, EE Switch, NACA5, ATC SCM7, IsoAcoustic Aperta. Done.
Fed by my Melco but I don’t count the cost of that as thats needed for the main system also
The ATC speakers and your office system looks fantastic and I am sure sounds sweet!
@seakayaker thanks dude. The Cherrys were just broken in so I will be starting again but they sound great straight off! Office listening is just for enjoyment while working so I probably won’t tell much difference anyway as it sounds so good already!!
I have to agree, the Nova is an astonishing bit of kit. Had mine for nearly two years running through some very old Kef Q15’s, and love it. As you rightly say, never feel short changed compared to my main system. Use mine as my main streaming device in another room. It should keep you very happy in your office, just hope you manage to get work done!
Very nice. I hadn’t appreciated just how small the baby ATCs are.
I’ve added an Audio Technica VMN50SH stylus which is a Shibata in place of the Nude Ellipitical and not hugely different right off the bat but I do need to fiddle about a bit with the cartridge set up and let the new stylus run in.
It’s nice to know though that along with the Nude Elliptical and my Goldring 1042GX that I’m good for well in excess of 1000 hours playing time.
Next up is a better phono stage.
EE switch - worth it?
David
Just bought a Graham Slee Reflex and PS1 power supply. Done wonders for my vinyl playback
@davidf it was worth it in the context of the Nova and the SCM7’s it made them a bit brighter which in turn improved the lower level listing volume. The EE switch is a bit like a sharpness filter. The ER switch that I have in the other ND555 system is a different animal. That one creates a bigger soundstage with lots more space and you can hear into recordings more. Not tried the EE in that system or tried them combined yet. I will have a play at some point.
I am using a $120 Ubiquiti Switch 8 into ndx2/xpsdr.
Which of the 2 switches that you use, would you recommend as a possible upgrade.
