Tried that and it stopped at post #274. A partial success. Any other options? Maybe @Richard.Dane knows how to search an entire thread and filter only those with images…
In my room and system.
Bass. It’s more of it, deeper and feels more balanced over a greater range where the 5s can sound a bit narrow and difficult to get going. The flow and dynamics are better on the Eatons.
Mids. The Eatons add more meat to voices which I lacked on the 5s. Compared to the 5s the Eaton mid is more recessed but since I found the 5s being bit too much here it fits me perfect.
Highs. The main area where the 5s are better. More air and more nimble sounding where the Eaton can sound a bit thick. A cymbal will sound more shimmery on 5s and thicker on Eatons.
Placement. Eatons are much more forgiving. The one point source on sound coming from the 10" speaker make the sweet spot much wider in the listening position than the 5s. Both height and sideways.
Overall the Eatons can play a much wider amount of music in different quality without crying out loud like the 5s. On specific tracks mainly airy, acoustic, male voices etc the 5s sound glorious. But ever since the Eatons entered I enjoy listen to music and stopped listen to sound quality and music became fun again. I believe that’s big part of Tannoys history. They are not perfect in terms of measurements but what they do is they make you smile and listen to music again. I agree fully.
Your best bet is to just scroll through from the start. Probably best done on a computer rather than tablet or phone…
@WeekendWarrior As Richard said, definitely search on a computer. Based on what you tried, I suggest you use the advanced options to put in different date parameters etc as you will need to divide up the results. Sorry, I am unsure the maximum searches that will be displayed if you do this, as I can’t test because at this time I’m replying via mobile.
Ah thanks, been on a “wish list” to compare to the Rogers I have been using since the 1980’s!!
Sometines I wonder what I am missing by not exploring some alternatives, apart from keeping my cash in my pocket…
This may achieve what you’re after…
- Go to Google Image search
- In the search box enter “site:community.naimaudio.com/t/system-pics-2020/” (without quote marks).
This appears to bring up all the images posted in the thread. (You should be able to click on an image, to bring up the actual post.
(Only tested on a computer, but it should work on a tablet/phone).
ETA: Clicking this link should take you directly to the results.
That does work for me on my mobile.
A couple of scrolls up and down makes me think it isn’t all the pictures, I only see my second system and not the turntable rack/amp&streamer stack pics. But it’s a brilliant link to most of the system pics which is really helpful to the OP, so this isn’t a criticism, just an observation.
Thanks so much for this. I think most of the images are there, although not mine, but then again I know what those look like already.
Much appreciated. Hopefully in the 2021 version I can post a picture of my re-arranged room.
Remember to set it to go after a (very) short time!
Yes Sir
Compared to the price of streamer, yes. Compared to the (suspected) cost of the part and the labour, less so. Still, enjoy.
For the record, despite grumbling about it, I would have paid it as well!
Upon arrival, three floors up and with the lift out of service, something I informed the leading removals company, Bishop move, of when we discovered it upon our arrival, they neglected to inform their subcontractor however. Full marks to St Georges European for hauling everything up the stairs, including a very heavy Italian leather sofabad.
This is mostly LPs and system in these boxes. Several days later
The bottom left is a 250-2 standing in for the 500 until the suspect Burndy makes its way back from Salisbury. I had an empty lite shelf there to raise the Burndys and get the pre further from the 500ps anyway.
My old CDX2/282/Hi/250 were already here along with a pair of CS1.6 Thiels and I’ve left the Thiels in play for now, I’d like to hear them with the full 500 system for a while before installing the NBLs, which I suspect, may be too much for some of the neighbours.
And finally a shot of my two turntables.
The Rock on the left has a mono wired Decca Maroon which is earning its keep on my old mono records, it tends to jump out of the groove if with a stereo disk but with genuine mono pressings its behaves itself impeccably at the light end of the recommended VTF range. I think for stereo a heavier arm, better suited to the low vertical compliance might be an idea and the deck on the left has one near to 20g eff mass that would be perfect were it not doing such a fine job with another living fossil, an SPU Royal N.
I’ve posted these before but not together. I was going to put the Rock on the right to get them closer in level but the Schröder’s arm leads are too short to reach the superline.
Nice, I simply love the look of nearly every Thiel speaker.
If some nitpicking is allowed, isn’t the Artemis on the left?
Quite right and changed, hard to keep track on a small iphone.
The Thiels really like this room and can groove surprisingly well with Naim in charge. They were hopeless when I first heard them with Accuphase.
Good to hear the Tannoy Eatons are living up to expectations. Although I switched to Marten Duke 2 earlier this year, I still keep the Harbeth SHL5 Plus together with Naim 282,HCDR and 250DR. They will be resurrected one day…
Have you seen the new Marten range? Got me curious. Stereophile have a review out on the Oscar duo.
