Thanks David, we extended the house a few years ago. It’s a great family and party room, although no parties this year!!! Couldn’t decide weather to put my main system in there but went for Muso in the end and put the main system in the lounge.

The display is usually off. After all, it is on the phone / iPad. But I make an exception for everyone’s benefit. :laughing:

It’s quite a deck this BX-300e!

The BX-300E is a remarkable deck. This one I bought a few years ago when my ZX-9 went off to B&W for a big service. Finding a good BX-300E was harder than I thought; so many have been used, abused, and were worn out. This one though was a one owner deck, with the box and all the bits, and had obviously had very light use. Yes, compared directly against my ZX-9 you could just about tell that the latter was a bit better still, but not by very much. Main difference was a slight reduction in size of soundstage, otherwise it was difficult to tell one from the other. Of course as a recorder the ZX-9’s tuning adjustability is far better than the BX300s single bias adjuster, but it just means you need to be a bit more careful with the tapes; later tapes comply more closely than earlier ones.

Anyway, I sold my ZX-9 about a year ago. Very sad to let it go, it was very much the fulfilment of a long-held ambition to have one, but I just wasn’t using it enough to justify it. The BX-300E is the perfect stand-in for when I want to play a cassette, and it replays the ZX-9s tapes extremely well.

Here she is just after returning from the big B&W service;

p.s. On a related note, very sad news that B&W have ceased servicing Nakamichis.

So where do they go now @Richard.Dane? I was thinking of getting one next year for nostalgias sake, and because I found a box full of tapes including a load I recorded off John Peels Thursday night show back in the 70’s.

Graeme, if you enter “Nakamichi cassette deck repairs UK” into your search engine, a number of options do come up. These are not brand specific as was B+W, but may have people skilled enough in electronics to effect adequate repairs depending on circumstances. I have a BX125 I would like to get fixed to keep my DR2 and Technics decks company.

Would be a great shame if Nakamichi spares, diagnostic equipment etc got binned by B&W.

IIRC the parts were sold on, but to whom, I’m not sure.

Major change for me. Out with the 252, 300 and NDS and in with the end-game system: 552, 500, ND555, all DR.

Thank you. No, not a lot but some issue at the left corner. I’m looking for putting a plant over there. However it sounds better than I expected with doing nothing.

Hmmm…that’s quite a STATEMENT you’ve made there…are you sure? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
