What are the four shoebox size components in the right hand stack?
Which CD player is it?
I bought them as a Christmas gift for my wife too, she will get them by Thursday afternoon
Wow! Congratulations @GavinB. Let us know how it’s all coming along. Keeping the SL2s I imagine.
Enjoy.
Yep, barring any big-time lottery win!
They’re power supplies from an alternative manufacturer. One powers the 2Qute DAC that’s currently on TV duties, two are a SuperCap equivalent powering my Headline and the last one is the second PS on my ND555. I don’t think we’re meant to mention the name.
It’s a Sony CDP-750. I bought when I traded my CDS3 in for an NDS, thinking I’d have a backup. It’s barely been used in two years. There’s a guy in Sheffield who’s a big fan of the DAC chip used and he renovates these older machines. I paid less than £200 and seems like a great quality backup. I haven’t actually compared how it sounds vs. the NDS (or now the ND555).
Yes, Claude,
The DARGON is an impressive piece of a deck
Ivo
Dargon?
I think Ivo was referring to the Nakamichi Dragon, but with a small typo. Easily done.
Mark
Yes, my mistake. Nakamichi DRAGON.
Always should be caps, that’s how good it is.
I don’t think they were sold on @Richard.Dane because when I contacted B&W for maintenance of my Dragon a while ago they told me they were running out of Nakamichi parts and for this reason they only accepted UK customers. That will be the reason they ceased servicing Nakamichis I think, no more parts.
It was reported elsewhere on the ‘net that the parts were sold on.
Still working on final touches of the room, but it is almost there - added Symposium Ultra speaker platforms to my Volti speaker and pulled a couple more absorption panels off the wall from the other side of the room to experiment with boundary effect. Results are positive so I am currently waiting on 4 more stand up panels and 4 more diffusion panels to finally finish this system off.
Cracking little amp, one day I might go back to valves I had I icon audio 40
