It depends on the wine variety,
Mediterranean varieties, do not need much time for improvement …
Scottish varieties, on the other hand, are heavier and like a lot of bass
Luckily I enjoy both
We’ll do…
We are entering a quarantine of at least two weeks.
At least we will pass the time pleasantly
Hi all. Hope you have happy holidays and that being in lockdown (most of Western Europe) doesn’t do your head in during the beginning of 2021.
This is my system as of end of 2020.
This year I added the XPS-DR for the NDX2 and the Rega Planar 8 with Apheta 3 cart and Aria v2 phono.

That’s a great collection of kit. Thanks for posting
The flatcap, for the headline, though a great improvement on the napsc, will have to be replaced by a hicap as it just looks wrong!
Yes please.
Will there two threads for 2021, one with socks and one without?
Lovely to see 57’s, I’ve my Dads two in the garage in need of some tlc, some day hopefully…
It was hearing “57’s” that sparked my interest in quality sound from a record, and prompted me to think about the sound of music in the home. Unfortunately, although my first hearing of the Quad was in a large room where the speakers were lost in the distance, my own home (then, and now) had such small rooms that you would have tripped over any electrostatics, and so I have never owned these desirable speakers. Always I have had to compromise the hifi to fit the size of room, and domestic harmony.
Just now running in. Not fully set up properly yet. -11c outside and snowing hard. I’ll do a better pic in the new year with the house plants in place and the cover off the tubes.
First album played: streamed Kate Bush, “50 Words For Snow”
Although I have various accessories in storage with the Naim system, the theme here is simple. No fancy power blocks. No ethernet or USB regen devices. The joy of simple systems involves just the bare essentials.
And the mug shot.
Love the 45% humidity, and the Luxmans. How do you maintain it? I am at 15% in rainy-Seattle. 45-55% humidity is supposed to be better for health, and probably good for HiFi, especially speaker enclosures and seals.
Not joking.
Nick
Well I just moved from a place that was 80-100% humidity for more than half the year so 45% to me feels pretty dry. That type of humidity was never a problem for an speaker I had except my Qacoustics 3010. A couple years ago when it was 100% for weeks on end, the vaneer blistered.
When it gets down to <30% my wife sticks on humidifiers.
I know for people wit violins, they just suffer. No aircon, no humidifiers. Let the wood gradually change temp and humidity with the weather. No man-made sudden changes.
Thank you, I have been so looking forward to seeing this.
And on Christmas Day as well
Happy Christmas and best wishes to thee and thy kin
Ian
PS what make are the speakers ?
That should sound great, I love my Naim but it’s nice to see something other than black boxes. I’ll look forward to update when it’s up and run.
