Very sad news about B&W. Your post inspired me to put on a cassette with my CR7A, really sounded good… now several hours later and I’m still listening to cassettes, some I recorded over 30 years ago.

Like it. Just ordered a 552 and to go with Sopra 2 and Nap 300 I got recently. decided to jump the supercap/252 stage. from my 282 hi capWhat the hell
How is your system with the Nap 300 ?
Gorgeous kit.
I’ve jumped straight from 272/555PS/300DR to 552/ND555/555PS/300DR. I had listened to the Sopra2 with a 552 and ND555 before, so I knew the Sopra2 still had a lot of potential to express.
It was a big step up, especially adding both 552 and ND555 at the same time. The 552 works very well with the 300DR and no doubt even better with a 500DR but given the speakers and room size, in my case, it feels well at home with the 300DR.
It was more of everything, soundstage, details, authority, and very natural and musical.
I believe you will like the result.
I got the same setup, it is just very good, huge stage with depth, details, robustness to all instruments. All SL cables on a Naim fraim.
Maybe I will be tempted to 500 NAP just to be all 500 rather then any need
I went from 272 with XPS DR to 552 and NDX 2 with the old XPS DR. It was a really big step in sound quality. All with a 300 non DR as power amp.
The next steps were 500 DR and finally 555. For my ears the step from 300 to 500 DR was much larger than the step from NDX 2 with XPS DR to 555.
Hi @AhTiong, very nice system. Difficult to see at your pic, but aren’t the Sopra’s not too close to each other? I had Kanta’s in the past and remember I had them some 260cm apart
Cheers,
Iver
Hi Iver, that’s a good point. The speakers are currently about 2m apart and they used to be even closer in the past, however, they sound better when they are further away from each other. Ideally I would push them apart even more, but that’s a compromise with furniture and room aesthetics, where I feel I’ve reached the limit as of now.
I have got the same setup as yours (except for the K6 speakers) which I enjoy thoroughly.
I concur with you that the aesthetics are part of the pleasure that you get listening to music. My main system is in a large (7x10m) living room where decoration is very important to me. I could not go as far as adding panels to modify the sound or having the perfect dressing of the cables. The speakers could be moved a little bit but I can’t get as close a I should. I am aware of these trade offs which I prefer to having a dedicated room in which I would have to go to listen to the system.
But that’s me and I know that other forum members have done the things differently to their entire satisfaction.
System looks great, including the 2 tone Sopras
Unfortunately I did not find this brand at my favorite alcohol supplier…but-
I found compensation in the figure of Adberg 10 years old
SLÀINTE!
Thanks
One trick I deploy to temper the visibility of cables is to fit white expanded sheath around cables which are on show. The sort of thing that some high end cable makers use to tart up their cables to make them look expensive, but which actually costs very little.
Or you could just Change your cable colour to suit your mood or decor!
Your P3 ESR will really enjoy the extra power
That’s why I put the Cyrus amps on the end of the Atom to see if it would work and boy does it
better then the 62/HC/140 combo? what’s the differences?
i think that my p3esr sounds good with the nait 2, but when I connect to the NAP250/HC/62, damn, seems like I change speakers!
