System Pics 2020

From my limited experience, it seems to be a woman thing, though probably not exclusively. Both my wife and sister-in-law like to put pot plants on speakers, despite requests not to. Apparently it is selfish and unreasonable of me and my brother-in-law to object. Ruined the veneer on my very early Naim speakers.

My mother in law puts pot plants on the old guys speakers, I’d scream. I don’t understand it either and thankfully Mrs Pete wouldn’t even consider it.

And rightfully so. :+1:

For a moment I thought that was a 4-box statement system too! Must clean my glasses, and other replies first.

@MikeD not at all, good amount of room actually, it’s easier to see in the grills off shot  and I’d never put anything on top of my speakers, especially these S40’s !

That’s where rounded top loudspeakers come in handy. Or those that let the cabinet vibrate, anything put on top of my old mission 700s was liable to fall off after a while. I suspect some of the BBC designs would do the same as well as Audionotes.

Yes, my SL2s prevent anything on top. To me, it looks dreadful with things on the speakers. If you look at @Fung picture above you’ll see a model motorbike so it’s clearly not a woman thing. We see pictures with soft toys sitting on the stereo. Why would a grown up do that? Why do people have Lego models or toy cars? They are not children. We don’t have much stuff but what we do have has attracted comment over the years. It’s obviously a case of each to their own.

Maybe cause we’re all different.

And a good thing too.

Although placing things on speakers is imo rather odd.

Not putting anything on top of these babies…
Curved top, no space and high gloss, thankfully, so the domestic temptation doesn’t even arise!

I have cards on top of my SBLs, it is a CAT deterrent measure …fingers crossed!

Female motorcycling hifi enthusiast might call your comment out for being sexist.

Only ever had an Asaka… :smiley_cat:

What Focal speakers are those and are they running off a 300DR?
I ask because I have 300DR & PMC25.23s and looking at upgrading speakers so currently drawing up a shortlist.

Thanks
