System Pics 2021

Here are my humble systems. CDX and XPS are currently powered down due to the lack of CD usage. Muso QB2 in the kitchen was an addition last year, it’s a great bit of kit.

I like the QB2 stand…where dud you buy that? Your main room looks very nice, like the chair👍

The rooms look fantastic. :+1:

I made it with stuff I had lying around, so was essentially free :slightly_smiling_face:

I had some 20mm perspex sheets which had previously been used as plinths (with sorbothane feet) on each shelf of the Sound Organisation rack with the main system. These were retired long ago and had sat in the garage for years, so I grabbed the cleanest one, sawed it into a square, drilled a few holes in the bottom, found an old pack of three speaker spikes with the threaded inserts, screwed them in (two at front, one at the back), stole the spike shoes from the sub in the lounge and…hey presto.

I only did it because a) I was bored and, b) I wanted the Muso Qb to sit on something and look cool. I hadn’t really factored on it affecting the sound at all, but it really does. Tightened everything up, especially the bass. It also looks great at night when the light from the Naim logo shines through the perspex.

Cheers! The ultra-wide lens on my iPhone makes it look a lot bigger than it actually is!

Interesting, I put mine on some audio serenity pucks and it did the same in terms of SQ, hence my interest. Great idea.

You can have a sheet of perspex if you want to try it yourself.

Thankyou, but i can find some easily

Olive goodness! Lovely setup, and the dark blue on the walls is lovely too. Nice!

So lovely indeed!
Just one curiosity: never felt the “need” to move from NAP 180 to 250?
Thanks,
David

Yes, on occasion. But the 180 drives the Elite SEs more than adequately and it sounds great to me. I’m sure a 250 would be better, but I can’t really justify spending another grand (plus probable servicing costs) any time soon. I got everything serviced at Class A in February last year, so I’m good for the foreseeable future. It’s a really nice feeling when the constant drive to upgrade and improve one’s system has diminished!

Endeed. In your experience, does the length affect the sound in any direction?

Not sure I know what you mean exactly John but I have been using that length of speaker cable for decades now, including the NACA5 and 4 etc and my previous home prior to where I am now in both senses, so to me this is the norm and don’t really know any different.

I love this thread and seeing such a wonderful array of systems, but mine seems too embarrassingly simple. Old as well. The NAC200/NAP202 and CD5x are all nearly 20 years old! Admittedly the CD5x is largely in retirement these days, kept only to provide cover in the event of failure of the WiFi or NAS drive!

Nice space and a great speakers

Thanks. The house is a converted Methodist chapel and has a wonderful acoustic that gives a bloom to the music.

Not that simple and I bet it sounds great. Love the room, seems there is plenty of space for your system to perform.

Not so old really. My amps are early to mid 90’s, then there’s the CB series before that and Bolt Down gear before that, so I guess yours is a veritable youngster. Regardless of age, it is a very nice system and should bring a big smile to your face.
