Thanks,
I work with the growers that’s why I’m asking
To my eye those are roses or gerber’s … but maybe Im wrong.
Always looked at system pics but never posted before.
Here is my very humble system in my very small listening room. 72, hicap, 180, Kans MK1 with recapped crossovers, new Scanspeak tweeters and grill cloths on MK2 stands. LP12 front end with Karasel bearing, Ittok and AT33EV mc cartridge. Great small room system.
Great system in any room. Some classic components there.
That all looks great. The Kan is the perfect sized speaker and lives where all speakers should live; against the wall rather than in the middle of the room. I had black ones for years, on Kan 2 stands like yours. It’s odd to see the stands again, the bases look absolutely massive. They are most certainly stable.
Lovely system Paul, looks like you’ve got an Arcam lurking to the right. I just got my Alpha 9 CD player back after a 12 year loan yesterday. Have plugged it in, sitting on the floor in the cabin with no regard for supports etc and fired it up.
It’s sounds stunning, it always did voices brilliantly but seems to have gained some weight to its delivery now compared with what I remember it used to sound like.
As far as I know Sonus Faber speakers like to breath.
Also human
Some animals as well
Good point forgot they exist
Hi Adam,
Yes well spotted it’s a very old Arcam DV79 dvd/cd player that I’ve had from new and despite its age it’s still going strong. Does a good job of CD replay, sounds better than it ought to through the system, music concerts on DVD do sound really good. Hope to buy a Naim CD player at some point when funds allow.
Vera nice
Not all, it depends on the speaker*. (Bass response being obvious, but also the run-time difference from speaker front to listener and wall reflection to listener is very small, which is problematic)
* In fact, in the past a common issue in German reviews that it was not obvious that e.g. classic Naim speakers expected a wall behind. German ones typically not, so Naim speakers were often reviewed poorly based on this misunderstanding
I’ve got a CDX2-2 in my Naim system and it’s stunning too. Just amazed how good the Arcam is and I’ve just noticed that Russ Andrews have an upgrade for it…
Sounding sublime and the best I have heard in my home. Over the past few months I’ve assembled the kit moving away from the 272/555DR and it’s gelled together beautifully.

I can see where you are coming from, but can’t agree completely. Against the wall isn’t against any wall. Usually the wall has to be solid brick, maybe concrete. Any other type and all bets are off. Freestanding speakers are more flexible in this regard.
New kit just being tested with a sqbx duet and a mobile phone in to the study speakers.
Impressive sound from such a (Naim) inexpensive set of boxes.
92/90/flatcap. Very enjoyable amp. Ran mine with a Rega Planet CD player.
I seems I needed your post to get HH’s sentiment. I suppose it was something like “in an ideal world, all speakers should be like this”. I get that. But, apart from your good point, choice is good and necessary. In my apartment, the speakers are very well placed when 1 m from wall, both for sound and for living. But if they were voiced for being close to a wall, they would also have to be very close to two rectangular 0.5x0.5 columns that I have in the corners to both sides of the listening area, which would cause horrible side reflections.
Yep, I am just about complete now. I have a plan to start a rolling program of service of all of my kit (if the 300 ever gets back ) and this will be the stand in as various kit goes off for attention.
Yes, the room plays such a big part in this.
My current place allows no more than 50 cm between the back of the speakers and the wall. Otherwise the speakers end up blocking one or more of the natural paths through the room. The previous room was markedly different. The speakers sounded best when they were placed in the middle of the room. I had them set up along the long wall, with the front of the speakers exactly between the front and back wall. The tweeters were approximately 1/4 of the rooms width away from the side walls. Surprisingly they not only disappeared sonically, but also from any unintentional contact.
Perhaps unsurprisingly a pair that didn’t get along in my old place, plays beautifully here (Bauer audio fj Dude).
