Close up of Naim boxes

Wow! Bet it sounds great. Huge room. I would like to hear those speakers, they have the same (similar) mid and tweeter as mine. Lovely drivers. Very uncoloured and natural sounding with extremely low distortion. My midrange is so smooth it is addictive! I am sure yours is too.
Best loudspeakers Iāve ever owned.
At second hand price a very good deal. Around $9000 US.
The 808s are above $35,000 I believe. Both top of Titan line, wonder how much better 808s are?
The 808s are more appealing aesthetically however. Never seen them in the flesh.
Regardless these are fantastic speakers and I hope they last a long time.

I have a free Fraim shelf between the brains and the brawn boxes in my single stack - all standard height shelves.
The order is:
552 Head
ND555
Free shelf
PS555DR
552PS
250DR
I do however realise that with a 300 you need an additional shelf and things could get a bit āprecariousā.
I canāt be sure if the spare shelf improves isolation but the theory says it should. Generally speaking the more you can physically separate brawn (transformers) and brains units the better.
I have to believe the move to a 300 would more than offset any sacrifice made in that rack regarding isolation!
Of course
Whilst Iām sure it may make a difference I think that the rack is high enough as it is, itās on the cusp of being too high visually anyway!
Ideally I should split to brain and brawn. This would be possible if the system were relocated to the other end of the room which is 18ā long. This would require either the moving of one item of furniture and using something narrower like Simrack or losing a cabinet which we would be reluctant to do. Also longer speaker cables would be required and the dedicated radial supply would need to be moved.
Itās not a dedicated listening room so I think the current compromise is probably the best.
Iām impressed that he hasnāt tried to flog you a ND555
He has mentioned the possibility of a upcoming preloved ND555, tempted
Heās good like that.
Very nice room but that wooden stool looks really uncomfortable for long term listeningā¦
No doubt about that (and I assume you are trying to lead me astray!) but the question is whether or not a free Fraim shelf between brain and brawn boxes is beneficial to SQ in a single stack?
The related question is whether or not a single Fraim stack becomes too unstable with the addition of a free shelf in those systems with a 300 or 500, and/or, perish the thought, 2 x PD555s?
no wonder my butt hurts
An empty shelf is well worthwhile to separate brawn and brain. Thatās what I did when I had CDS3, 555PS, 552 and 300. It did look rubbish though and splitting the stack in two was one of my better hifi moves, and gave a significant SQ improvement. It makes organising those cheeky Burndies much easier too.
Astray? Never! To the promised land!
Iām sure your system sounds excellent now, so donāt be too tempted!
Indeed, and most would only contemplate a single Fraim stack with such a system (several black boxes with multiple big power supplies) if separate brawn and brain stacks cannot be accommodated.
Very nice Marantz1300, it looks older than mine. I have a 12s that has a bolt down top and the back panel is configured differently. There are several variations of 12, there is the 12s and 12e (and possibly another one?). I understand that they have different sensitivity to suit different types of cartridge, if Iām right the 12s is for 100 micro volt sensitivity and the 12e for 250 micro volt sensitivity.
I hope you really enjoy it, I love mine!
This is a killer combo. I ran this for a while with a LUMIN A1 streamer. I have the LS3/5s on an Atom at the moment, but the Nait is really good with them.
ā¦and your old stands are still in my system, I really like the industrial looks although I know they divide opinion
