But then if you were to go ND555, you only need start out with one PS, which makes it a tad more price competitive (unusual thing to say when talking >£20k, I know!).
I have a 555PS DR left over from my recently departed NDS…
As much as I love Naim, I am not ‘convinced’ by their streaming technology/longevity…I ‘think’ Linn has more upgradeability/longer life cycle…only my opinion though…
Been using my 606s for nearly two years thought they had a more seamless presentation than the 505s when I had a demo at Audience the 707s would be a bit to big for my room and wallet.
They are extremely room friendly and the recent upgrade to a 552 has taken them to another level very pleased with them indeed.
because i can’t sit in the middle in front of the speakers and always have to play with the balance on the nova, i set up the speakers asymmetrically. pulled the left one further forward and angled it a little more. the angle from the listening position to the speakers is now identical and the left one is now further out of the corner. balance 0 and the stage is now in the middle between the speakers and is more beautiful
The new witch hat phantom make a good job
Started researching speaker upgrades this week, but sat here, volume up, enjoying a Saturday morning session it’s hard to imagine getting a significant jump without room treatment.
That said I do have a sneaky feeling I’ve taken the A7s as far as they can go…
Nice rack too. Which brand is it?
It’s two separate Hifi Racks Podium Slimline with a custom shelf to support the MC462. Very pleased with it and like the fact it’s flexible for future customisation.
Not necessarily…my recent cartridge change from Dynavector 10x5 to a Linn Krystal has been quite significant.
That looks like a lovely place to find yourself with a suitable playlist and optional single malt…
I like your thinking! I do think the next upgrades will make more sense focused on the LP12 . Radikal, an upgraded arm and MC cart and I think I’ll be done there
Single malt never optional!
Sometimes, you reach a level which is almost unsurpassed. Probably the best it’s to stay put and enjoy?
Congrats
Single Malt Optional??.. life is just too short… enjoy
Looking great @WhiskyGuy - I (IMHO) believe that treatment would probably astound you and save you from endless hours of demo’ing other speakers. This is unless you go for Kudos 606 or 707 which I know will be a revelation
A B&W man preaching Kudos?
I know right? Had the opportunity to listen to 606 this weekend and came away feeling they’re quite special. Who knows what the future holds
Ohhhh the wallet…
But seriously, I like that kind of unprejudice approach: if works….
( kudos are one of the few brands that I didn’t heard yet and I want to.)
Interesting chat. I put the 606’s on demo with the Wilson SabrinaX and Magico A5’s.
Despite the vast gulf in RRP there wasn’t too much between them. The Magico’s just shaded things (mainly due to an amazing low end performance) but the 606’s held up very well. All were just a touch on the bright side for my tastes, although there is a world of difference between the dealers demo room and my living room. Would certainly be interested in home demos of the Kudos and Wilson. The Magicos for all their qualities are too big, industrial and expensive.
Beyond that the new B&W 803 D4s and Kef Ref 5 are interesting. I do concur that room treatment is probably going to provide the biggest improvement for £.
Optional which one you prefer that is
Good taste, I like your system and watch
Very nice, love the rack full of 'toshes…what is the one top left…can’t quite make it out…
