Nothing new compared to 2020.
I really like my Naim system.
Basic components but what a lovely sound.

Which accuphase amp is this? Would be interested in how you think it compares to Naim amplification.

It’s E600 class A amp, I am very much in love with it. I’ve never had a Naim amp, so am not able to compare it. I did have Hegel 160 before and for sure Accuphase is a completely different animal.

Your record player looks like a reel to reel from the right side

That R2R of yours looks drop dead gorgeous. Rest of the system is none too shabby either. Very nice setup.

R2R is lovely.

The D2Rs are FAB. They are agile and so sweet in the treble and soundstage. My dealer has suggested a couple of subs just to help them along. Not so much in the bass as the soundstage. Let’s see. A bit more substantial than just changing the mains plugs. Exciting.

Really? I have no problem with bass response with mine. I’d love a 250DR however :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hi, no I had to take the plug off the cable and then insert the pins into the speakers.

Lets see. I’ve noticed that certain 1970’s and 1980’s recordings aren’t as powerful
as I remember them.

I have the D2R’s baby brother, the DB1.

My room is fairly small, approx. 10’W x 16’L. Difficult to tell the size of your room from the image but a would guess not a whole lot bigger than mine?

I find my speakers are still capable of shaking the house & yours must be more so. I’ve no experience with subs but would hazard that they are more likely to confuse the sound stage in a smaller room rather than deepen it.

My memory remembers some older recordings as more powerful than they actually are & I am sure that this is just down to memory & not a system issue. After all, I bet your system in the 70’s & 80’s was not quite as good as the one you have now!

Why did you change from the Hegel?

Depends on the light of the room

Thank you, Graeme!
The system sounds pretty nice to my ears.

Looks very good but stacks not very good

Have you compared the Accuphase to the Luxman 590AXII? I’ve only ever heard the Luxman and it sounded very neutral but very detailed. Love their stuff.

Hegel was my first step into HiFi audio and at times I was super happy with it. But as time went on, I had a chanche to listen other amps, including Accuphase E300 series, with the same speakers as I have and that made a world of difference. Everything in sound was so much more refined and smoother, especially some female voices sounded somewhat rough with Hegel for my ears. Hegel also had a limited number of analog inputs, i missed at least a pair or 2. I bought E 600 secondhand, 2 y old for half of its retail price.

No, never had a chance to hear any Luxman amps. ‘Detailed’ is certainly something that goes with Accuphase, another phrases that come into mind are ‘delicate’ and ‘gentle’.
