System Pics 2021

Someone has spilled some water on that record.

Glad to hear it. Cheers.

Wow, thatā€™s a big change all at once, I bet you are delighted. Itā€™s good to see another P8; they seem to be everywhere.

Thatā€™s an epic change! Congratulations. Youā€™re going to be up all night for many nights getting to know your collection all over again.

Excellent, lovely setup :ok_hand:

Enjoy the 282 its a wonderful pre amp and probably all you will ever need.
If you are not using the bottom row of recording buttons hit the mute button makes a small but worthwhile difference.

What I do with mine. Then when I use my headphone amp, Iā€™m wondering for a few minutes whatā€™s wrong. Catches me every time!

You got rid of the laptop? :smiling_imp:

The wife uses the laptop for internet banking and searching online; it is not integrated to the system in any way and will have to find another place to rest. There are now no spare power sockets in any case.
The P8 is just remarkable. Listening to Incantations by Mike Oldfield and just breath taking with no trace of sibilance on female vocals. It will be hard to tear myself away from it and return to work tomorrow.
The CD5XS doesnā€™t sound too shabby either!

Are you in Thailand?

Temporary speakers, finally settling on Falcon LS3/5a arriving tomorrow, fingers crossed Iā€™ve made the right decision.

lovely looking set up - what is the album like??

The album is in a similar vein to recent Klaus Schulze releases so if you like those then you will like this also. The vinyl comes with the CD as well. Overdue for something new from him although I think his health is not great.

I do agree with you to a degree Andy Iā€™ve not tried a Fraim but have tried several different racks some expensive some not some recommended by Naim and some not and I have to say the difference between them was negligible at best and I now use a rock solid vintage Habitat one on wheels affectionately known as the NHS Trolley that cost Ā£25 on eBay.

One thing I did find out is that any rack is better than no rack at all these things are always a toss up between what looks good and what sounds good but Iā€™ll guarantee you, you will hear a difference.

Nice! Just upgraded my LP12 and added new 282 and new HicapDR. Going through some ups and downs but still much better than my 272/XPS

Thanks Bob. I have a rack by ā€œhifi racksā€. Iā€™ve had to compromise a bit, in that itā€™s an AV system, and itā€™s quite full of gear. It looks good though, and I do like it.

Definitely need to show us the new Falcons when they arrive, and let us know how they sound!

My most recent KS discs are Live at Klangart, Rheingold, Big in Japan and Shadowlands - nothing between Live (1980) and those.
Iā€™ve had some of the between albums in the past but did not keep them - since getting my new set up I would buy some of them if I see them somewhere to hear what they sound like again.
I have to admit the later releases seem similar to my ears. Would you recommend anything more recent??
yes his health has not been good for some years.
