System Pics 2021

Finally split my simrak into Brains and Brawn. Tv is now on top of the right hand stack as what may or may not be a temporary solution. Apart from the fact it looks better, it sound better too with the power supplies away from the pre amp and NDX2. The speakers have benefited from a little more space around them. Taking the system apart also helps to clean the connections. Sound stage is noticably more focused, but there is a general improvement in SQ as well. Very pleased with how the set up looks and sounds. The racks made by Simon Price are excellent quality and look the part.

Thanks for you kind words James.

Bob has taught me that we all listen “differently”. Just because a person is deaf does not mean they can’t enjoy music on the same level as the rest of us. Bob was blown away by my 500 system, saying it was his new reference. One familiar track nearly moved him to tears. His listening skills are remarkable.

Great match with wood grain, the white contrast of walls and book case/component stand with the focal gray. Clean and modern.

You have managed to make the Kantas look elegant, that is not an easy trick to pull off.

Your floor looks wonderful too.

Without wishing to be critical, it’s not a good idea having the speaker pointing straight at the system. Not only could there be a vibration issue, you’ll get a muddled sound from reflections. The space in front of the speakers should be clear of obstructions if you want a nice open sound. And you still need to chop off those two spikes!

Room decorated and system back in. Not the dedicated room or years back but a family life compromise. A multi purpose room!

That’s what insurance is for.

Still thinking of putting a shelf on top and normally it’s further back, just adjusting some cables.

That’s all beautifully integrated and almost disappears into the room. I guess the dining table wrecks the soundstage a bit but as you say, family life/multi-use room.

Great job!

After a house move 18 months ago “the sound collapsed” in the new home so after much experimentation, faffing and dithering I finally conceded to room treatment as the only option.

Fortunately I have a dedicated room so not too intrusive. Comparing the sound in my old house v new home (untreated) the sound was a disaster, I would have never believed the room could have that kind of impact. The GIK panels have made a massive difference……

My experience as well with GIK panels. So glad to hear it’s worked out for you and your Kantas. I love mine.

Misunderstood speaker as people lump them in with all the Focals and for me they are voiced differently.

Living on a ceiling by Blancmange springs to mind!

Not sure why it’s done that!
