Three arms though.

Pardon my ignorance but why have two arms on a turntable?

G

Most probably to do with changing cartridges, Graeme. Stereo and mono, hi/low output and so on.

Three arms if you count the other TT.

Thanks Tony. I get it now.

I wondered whether you had to turn up the volume much with the Puresound compared with other sources into the nait xs2? and how good it was generally?
Thank you

Hi , there is plenty of gain with the Puresound P10 into the Nait XS2, in fact I donā€™t go much beyond the 9 oā€™clock position on the volume control.

A feature of the P10 is that unlike most valve phono pre amps it uses an anode follower rather than a cathode . meaning that the output impedance is high so needs an amplifier with a 47k or higher input impedance.

Sounds excellent into the Nait XS2.

Coming together: it does indeed look like your panel is about to resolve into something!

It certainly helps the music to resolve into something wonderful :star_struck:

I like your tv bench. Are there speakers hiding at the ends?

I nearly got a hernia moving my 808s from the wall /corner about 18 inches into the room from their starting point quite close in. The sound was so bad I thought about getting someone in to see if I was imagining it. The bass took over the music and was not pleasant to listen to. I managed to avoid a hernia for the second time when I moved them back. Normal sound was resumed. They sounded great. I am happy again. My room is about 24 by about 14.5. Maybe in a very large room they would be fine but in mine the surprising result was that I could not put up with them once they were given more space. The moral is, inevitably, you need to match the speakers to your room. As Hungry Halibut noted elsewhere, biggest is not necessarily best

Did you thought about decoupling with Townshend Podiums or IsoAcoustic Gaiasā€¦
might be hard to get such stuff just for a try, but works wonders, sometimes.
Works well und my pair of Titans at least. (heavy speakers on suspended wooden floor)

Haha, no, they are the speaker grills I take off the speakers when leaving a session.

I didnā€™t think realistically there would be speakers there but I had to ask.

Obviously every room is different, my experience with Kudos t88s close to the wall was an over blown bass and almost no soundstage.
Moving them further into the room, placing them on Podiums and installing absorbers to the rear wall addressed both issues together with the sound being liberated from the cabinets, better timing, agile bass, huge increase in micro detail.

Iā€™ve tried many positions, but 35cm from rear seems to work best in my room. Which is great, means the room can be used more generally too. Key to this though is the room treatment - e.g. bass traps essential to tone bass output.

Bass traps look very wife friendly where are they from?

My preference aesthetically was close to the wall, but bringing the T88s further into the room and the addition of Podiums got the bass under control and revealed a soundstage, micro detail I could not ignore.
GIK 17cm deep full absorbers behind the T88s built on the improvements mentioned.
500DR - I then introduced Morgana din/xlrs which gave more air, soundstage precision, better timing and involvement. Very positive move.
ND555 2 x 555PSDR - 3 weeks ago replaced analogue Non ps with PSDR, big improvement, but sounds more hifi to me,
which is not my journey. Will sit tight for now and allow run in, then probably brain rebuild and reassess cable dressing.Relax burndies etc.

Distance rear wall to tweeter - 17cm absorber + 69cm = 86cm total
