Finally the first components arrived, Pathos Logos MKII and the lovely Living voice avatar R4. Still waiting on the Naim NDX2 but I guess it will arrive somewhere next year. The dealer was so nice to give me a Rega Saturn CD player until the NDX2 arrives.

Looking good as usual Mr T. One of my favourite systems, especially with those fabulous Gales :sunglasses:

Very kind of you, thanks James. I must say those Titans look fabulous in your room :sunglasses:

After an unplanned week away, it’s been rather nice to get home late this afternoon and listen to few favourite tunes again.

Very nce and orderly James. The plants do a nice job of breaking the hard lines up too.

Brilliant system @Toon. Is that a tamed blue light? Also loving the Toon mug!!

It is indeed a tamed blue light Graeme - now only mirroring the intensity of the Eddystone lighthouse rather than the Sun😂

The Toon mug matches the 11 other Toon mugs playing for us at Selhurst Park this afternoon

It definitely makes for a good night light. I think I’ll tame mine too.

I have avoided the 500-series before (out of range economically) but having had a 552DR on loan for a while it is an amazing preamp. As you say it lets more information through and it does it while keeping the music coherent.

I have given up waiting for the next 272 … saving up for a ND555 + 552DR frontend later in spring.

Keep the faith

So far in 2021 Nac 82 and Olive Hicap serviced and installed instead of 282 and Hicap DR.

There aren’t many who will have made that move! Why go from Classic to Olive? (says he, a dyed in the wool Olive fan).

Olive sounded better to me.

My 808s need to be pretty close to the walls and one has to be in the corner. Can anyone on the forum recommend a speaker to create maximum soundstage in that situation? My provisional view is that I need to dial down the bass response. They will also need to be aesthetically pleasing, not too big. Are Shahinians worth exploring/demoing? They look like they have those last two attributes

Try a few speaker cables before swooping out the 808s - I have been surprised at just how tweakable these speakers are. You may find a leaner cable may give them more space to breathe.
Quite impressed with KS-1, but also chord music creates a lot of air and soundstage (without being the least bit lean I might add).

They are brand new and need a lot of burnin time, after that I’m repositioning them to the optimal position for the listening spot.
