I was going to put a small shelf at the back of the rack as theirs adequate room … it would be interesting to see how much of a difference it might make?
How often are they running? I would imagine Naim would have them only come on when absolutely necessary like the NAP300?
Nice guitars. Are those the base traps in the corner ?
Nice room
Yes two GIK tritraps as well as two monster bass traps for the rear wall (well window ledge).
Really missing gigging for the last 10 months
Thanks BTW
Got to say I really like the styling of the Hegel, scandis always seem to nail it.
Looks so understated but imposing, difficult to pull that off and they do that effortlessly, haven’t heard their gear but from what I read it sounds how it looks.
As you say, the 6 is good, but the 8 is so much better and looks really cool too. Here’s mine with its red mat and the smaller and much nicer tungsten counterweight.
This is very true! Only when the volume’s turned up to killer levels
Not me personally, but my best mate upgraded from Gold 300’s to Platinum II PL200’s he’s had Accuphase amps and now runs a pre power Luxman. I’ve spent many hours listening to his setup and the Platinums are a significant improvement. Admittedly at a significant cost increase.
New office system - got a 70s vintage Marantz 20W receiver and hooked up some Focal Chorus 605 speakers - brought my Oppo in for testing the AUX input.
I am using a really cheap dipole FM antenna - does anyone have any suggestions that won’t break the bank? Has to connect to the old-style push/“pinch” connectors.
And sorry for the crappy cell phone photos.
Fantastic- love the look of the vintage Marantz kit
Hi Nigel - It looks like you’re enjoying your Planar 8. Does the foam core mark easily if knocked ? I’ve not see one in the flesh yet.
That Marantz equipment was unattainably expensive when was poring through hi-fi mags as a teenager.
Marantz were ahead of the times with their blue display
It may well do, but there is no reason to knock it. You’d expect anyone owning such a thing to be careful with it.
Great pic, I’ll probably get electrocuted if I attempt any such angles on my systems.
Currently awaiting delivery of a red and yellow (1 of each, not mixed…) Rega mats for deployment on Rp6 and P3.
Well yes, care must obviously be taken. Just curious.
I’ve fancied a blue mat for a while, maybe one day. Have you though of swapping both your decks for an 8? It’s very good and works well with the SN3.
I’m noticing what I think is a recent trend to match more modest NAIM boxes (Atoms, Unitis) with big speakers that look to me like they need to be driven by much more powerful systems.
Seems very strange. Comments?
I’ll be looking at the RP6 this year, the P3 was bought just before Christmas and is on the second system in the cabin, so I need two decks anyway.
P8/10 is the next logical one, I’ve actually got a pair of B&W 805ns returning from a loan to a mate (some 10 years ago, he actually had them longer than me). So am now considering a third system to get the best out of them. I’ve contacted B&W and they still have new mid / bass drivers so am considering giving them a new lease of life.
Next question is where would the third system go…
Should have also said I upgraded the elys to exact on the p3 and huge difference and closes the gap to the Rp6 quite a bit.
I’ve also ended up reversing out all the “upgrades” I made to the P3 with Firm Funk acromat and boing feet being removed. Yes they did make a difference, but it’s exactly that, different , not better.
I prefer the natural sound of the stock P3 over the hot rodded, which ended up making it sound unRega in my opinion.
