Here is my new Hega H190 with my faithful NHS trolley.
Must be very different from the Larcs!
Absolutely, both enjoyable but different presentations.
how do they differ in sound?
I’m not very good at explaining these things but both are very different approaches in speaker design. The Shahinian are omidirectional and project the sound upwards giving an very wide and deep sound. The Kudos are more traditional in forward firing and present a more stereo soundstage.
thank you for your answer.
Which of the two has less aggressive treble?
I wouldn’t have said either was anywhere near aggressive but the Kudos is a little more prominent.
When are we going to have a write up on the hega on how it sounds
The NHS trolley
What would matron say?
Sorry not had a proper play yet but have been playing at very low level through both my Planar 6 and my Auralic Aries Mini and so far so good but I don’t want to do a proper review until I can turn it right up for an extended period.
I did though turn it up pretty loud for the intro of Happiness is Easy on Talk Talk’s The Colour of Spring and it went right up through the dial and sounded immense without breaking a sweat I was then told off and had to turn it down.
Believe me nobody wants to put this thing properly through it’s paces more than me but it will have to wait until my better half vacates the premises probably Tuesday when my new Rega P8 should also arrive.
No changes in the last 12 months other than some GIK Corner Bass Traps…and a New Eames Listening Chair
Nothing wrong with a bit of moog
Lovely room Wenger.
Is that a Sky box on your Fraim? Mine is the noisiest most crude piece of electrical equipment that I keep as far away from my system as possible!
Blumin eck a p8 now did you not like the p6 or did the itch get too much
Love that room. Bet there are some great sounds to be had. Very relaxing room by the looks.
I sold my Quad Pre/Power, a Chord Dac, a PSU and some other bits and bobs to pay for the Hegel and got a bit more than I thought I would and so had a bit left over so when John at Midland Audio Exchange offered me a trade in my P6 against their 5 month old ex demo Planar 8 with full warranty it was too good to turn down.
Ps
The Planar 6 is an excellent deck for the money you would be hard pushed to find better but the Planar 8 was always in my sights.
Thanks for the compliment.
The sky box has some rubber pods underneath and of course the naim Fraim helps immensely…so fortunately no noticeable issues
A few changes in 2021. New room layout and moved dedicated supply. WH phantom, Blue Jeans ethernet cable, DIY rack, GIK bass traps, motive sx2. This year Morgana’s will be ordered. Very happy with things ATM.
Have you tried moving it off and out the way? Can it fit underneath? Obviously the whole point of the Fraim is to decouple from mechanical vibration and the Sky box has a fan within it.
So have my 135’s!
