System Pics 2021

Might swap places - Pre amp and media player.

No, not for now, very happy with what I’ve got. In a year or two perhaps but I’d want a long test at home before I changed what I have

Can you swap the top shelf with the one below? Lift up the player and the pre

I’ll have a look mate. Ta

Temporary system while I run in a new 552.

A few hours and its time to get the vinyl going.

Awfully good.

Behind the scene

After a 7 km walk before sundown at 2 degrees, the welcoming sound compensates with extra warmth and coziness.

Coziness is a warm house.

Do I see on your rack a luxman/Tandberg tuner?

The Aria suggestion now looking a little less preposterous and it’s now the cartridge that looks out of place. In fact, how about an Aura to go with the, let’s face it, inevitable Alpheta :blush:

My very small mancave.

My god. That could almost be a Japanese audiophile’s living room.

I know… but at least it is a room I can call my own.

An Apheta 3 and Aria are a very nice idea but it’s probably a step too far. Another £2,000 is a lot of money and it makes things more complicated. The modest Exact is sounding really very good and £2,000 would buy an awful lot of LPs, which is what it’s all about after all. The white platter and yellow cartridge match the painting very nicely too. Painting and TT matching could be a new trend. Or perhaps not!

What a lovely place to hide away from the world and lose yourself in the music.

Interesting speaker arrangement. Is one set on trial?

I can’t seem to decide between the s400 and SL2, so I am keeping both of them for the moment. Rather long story. When I first moved to this place, I only had the s400. The room wasn’t so filled and the s400 just boomed. So I moved the s400 to the living room and bought the sl2. There was no boom problems with the SL2. But as the room began to fill up (I got the LP12 and got all my records out into the room from my store), the SL2 in a way started to sound kind of lean sometimes. And the s400 didn’t boom anymore. So… there I have it… I can’t decide which sounds better.

So I keep both speakers and swap them once in a while in this room, humidity controlled with a dehumidifier.

Part of me am thinking of selling both and getting a kudos but there is no way to home trial it in my part of the world.

Kudos seem very popular on the Forum. My dealer suggested them as an upgrade from my SBLs but I haven’t tried them yet

I speak for myself but I think man caves are very important for our own sanity. When the household are in, mine is my office - especially at night. It’s beginning to look like a HiFi shop though😆, that’s when it’s not full of school books to mark🙄.

Agreed, you have lovely system that sits at the sweet spot of sounding amazing without multiple boxes and associated huge expense, if you can live without the 555ps then the Planar 10 with a moving magnet is entirely reasonable.

It’s interesting to see how you’ve moved from digital only and ended up with a vinyl source that has equal billing. For me, that’s the perfect solution in 2021.
