Sometimes I’m not sure if people are being serious or are making a joke.
‘Dressed’ is perhaps putting it too kindly! I do find it funny though that people mention my speaker leads when we have posts with rooms looking like bomb sites, stands covered in silly plastic toys and rooms with those hideous ‘love’ slogans.
Come on HH, stop beating about the bush and tell it like it is!
My girls have gone to bed in tears
You’ll be wanting to try some Spendor 4/5s then Nigel……
Very much share your relationship with said crawlies, here I hear a scream in the house and automatically reach for the kitchen roll and man-up, particularly when the biggens move inside Autumn time. I suspect in your neck of the woods they are slightly bigger than here. You probably reach for a spade! Enjoy Peter
Thanks, yes they’re very elegant in their simplicity and beautifully finished, some cherry veneers are a bit dull and brown but these are really rich and should get even nicer with time. Sound wise it’s early days but I had another pair on demo for a week a while ago so I know what to expect. Although cheaper than the A7’s I had I much prefer them, they don’t have the laser cut upper mids that really grated on me and have a lovely BBC esque thin wall sound, it’s amazing the difference really, so much more texture in the bass and realism overall, you could listen to them for hours and yet there’s lots of detail. A bit of an unsung hero imo. I’m looking at Custom Design FS104 Signature stands which are a kind of hybrid open frame design either that or I’m going to get my brother in law who’s a very handy woodworker to make up a wooden set similar to the HiFi racks design.
You can’t kill them, surely. They are so useful. Cover them in a glass, slip a piece of paper underneath, pick them up and take them to the end of the garden.
I know I’m a meanie Nigel, but rest assured the ones in the listening room are my friends. ATB Peter
Very nice photography.
My System Pic of the Week.
When a HiFi system definitely adds a special touch to an already cozy room…
Fine.
Hi Max,
I notice your profile picture is a Martin guitar. Looks nice and I have just bought one myself this year.
Hi Stuart,
it’s a D28. My wife gave it to me for my 60th birthday. It helped a lot to accept the idea…
Max
Very nice. You should post a photo in the guitars thread in the Padded Cell. Mine is a D41.
Stu.
Thanks Max, it’s probably 5 years since I have posted here and I have tried a number of different things before finding this combination. The shelves are just simple brackets and plywood, but work well.
I still have my old Nait 3 and MkI Kans in other systems.
Nearly impossible to tell these days!
Tontrager stands may be an option, often recommended for Harbeth, they work on the same principle of support at the corners.
