Two very nice setups. Not sure I could ever get away with the positioning of the RP6 though.
Superb - love a simple setup. Nice cosy room too.
Lovely room Stu. Love the colour scheme
I think they are very special speakers and able to perform in a variety of deployments, I took mine along years ago to listen to an Audiolab 8300 cd or Dac.
The guy in the shop had never heard of them and we just plonked them either end of his demo room equipment rack and when he hit play his jaw dropped.
Just great communicators and you stop trying to analyse their performance and just enjoy the music, which is what I think itās all about.
Iāll defiantly be looking to try out a pair of v3ās later in the year, quite like the grey (they would just fit in better), the white ones would look awesome on my daughters system. A white Planer 1 and tiny Project amp in light silver. Currently has Acoustic Energy 100s in white, it all looks and sounds amazing.
When I bought the P3 at Christmas I was going to give it a run in the Naim system but the phono leads are slightly shorter than on the Rp6, so it couldnāt quite reach from the Rega turntable shelf ā¦
Iāve always found the Rega wall shelves to give an excellent base for their turntables.
Should have left them!! I did wonder how they just vanished off the screen
Trying to balance needing/wanting a Power supply or new TT. Regardless Iāll have to buy another Fraim level as well. TT would mean a Phono stage as well if I go with a MC cart. Both the P8 and P10 (along with the classic LP12) are stunning IMHO
You are running into the issues I was weighing up when changing the system last year. I was very tempted by the ND5XS2 and an nDac but went with the NDX2 as itās one box. I wasnāt planning to keep the power supply but in the end it stayed and Iām glad I kept it. Iām using an Ortofon 2M Black into the SN3 phono input and itās superb. Itās great not having a separate phono stage and more wires. With the SN3 the P8/2MB seems a good match. A P10 would be lovely but itās so much more expensive and the P8 is extraordinarily good. Good enough for me anyway.
Sir hungryhalibut, you have my predictament captured perfectly. Ortofon 2M black wasnāt on my radar until now. Hereās hoping for a good 2021 then I can post to this thread.
It wasnāt on my radar either but it was what my trusty dealer recommended. It needs a 2mm spacer under the arm to get the height right but thatās an easy thing to do. Itās a nice plain black as well, so very discreet. Itās at least as good as the Rega Ania that preceded it, and meant that the Fono MC could be dispensed with.
Oh, thatās very good to hear. Looks like this cartridge should be considered ā¦
Wow! Great photo ! Cart looks great.
I take it even someone like me can install the 2mm spacer and Cart?
If you have other requirements on the radar then yes sort out those firstā¦
The dealer did the spacer but itās not difficult. The alignment protractor that comes with the Rega is all you need to get the cartridge aligned and it even comes with its own little screwdriver.
Lovely room and system, nice to see someone else still using SO tables!
You made them by your self?
Yes. From a Troels Gravesen design though.
ā¦and they look the dogās danglies ATB Peter
Yeah thatās my system in those demo songs.
There is so much advice on here against pairing the Atom with large speakers so I wanted to put up some videos showing the sound with large speakers (as much as you can on a video anyway).
I donāt understand it, it is such a blinkered way of thinking. If you like your music with deep bass around 30 hz, especially at low volumes then you need to move a lot of air.
Hereās a link for anyone interested.
