@anon4489532, may I ask: have you had pretty much every Rega tt (from their current range) in your system, by any chance?
Not so long ago, if memory serves, you were slumming it with a Rega P1 and bundled phono stage. Now you’ve got a P10. My mind might be playing tricks, but I’m sure you had a P3 and a P6 before that, and possibly even a P2!
As it happens, I got to hear a P2 last night with £40 MM cart plugged into the phono stage of a SuperNait 3. It was remarkably good.
Ha! I’ve never had a 3, but at least I know what the extra cost gets you. I’ve now got the 10’s natural cartridge partner and the combination is just lovely.
It was much diminished by getting the TT as far from the amplifier as the leads would allow. It’s finished further by using the MC cartridge with a separate phono stage. The new cartridge is a better match for the deck in any event. If it wasn’t for the hum I’d very likely have stuck with the Exact and not known how much performance I was missing.
I’ve ever heard them, but the Majik 140s seem to offer a lot of well-made/finished speaker for the price. They offer quite an upgrade path too! I find the low frequency specification a little odd - only down to 55hz with such a large cabinet? But other than that, they don’t seem to get as much of a mention as they would appear to deserve.
LOL. I’d like to say the back wall is specially prepared for sound reflection. It is really just the typical French country crepi finish. We live not so much French farmhouse style as in an actual ex farmhouse.
It suits us well though with our chosen life with dogs.
