There are a number of reasons why that won’t happen. The main one being divorce if anything larger than the 606 entered the lounge
That looks a nice listening/viewing position
Are those curtains that cover the screen when not in use?
Yikes… been there, done that. That can be a serious threat for any upgrade budget.
I know guys that would get more stuff in the front room just to facilitate a divorce!
Seriously though James, I guess it all depends on room size. Those 808s are absolute beasts, could be a tad overwhelming. Especially for the wife!
Do you mind me asking the measurements of your front room. Hopefully next year I will get two, 3 level Fraims for my six boxes, plus a fireplace. Just wondering if our room will be long enough to take all that, plus my 606s.
Thanks
thanks Neil- im thinking along the lines of an Atom plus speakers - and need to consider which ones - do like the look of the Ruark.
Also interested in the blue sound power node - as looks great value
Whilst they are physically large and dominate visually, they actually play nicely and have less room interaction that my previous X2’s and also the S20 and Fact 8 I’ve had in here on demo.
It’s a bit of a jump for us as the outgoing X2’s we’re so small, but they only come up to chest height and always look bigger in pictures than they are in real life.
The other thing they do REALLY well is work at low volume and still give a full sound, but enough of that, it’s time to wake the neighbours
We usually put the fire on when its cold inside
Since this is also the system “wood burner” thread. If I were to do it all again I would get something with a huge mass to store the heat with not too high output. We partially have that where heat is stored but not carried through a cold winter night.
That said I would also factor in and buy a very good one. Not sure if the law of diminishing returns applies for wood burners. Also a good supply of dry hard wood like oak and your chimney will thank you for it. Here where we have the stove there is so much wood available it really makes alot of sense.
I really like the look of those SBL’s Deb, such a nice finish.
Tim
If I was going for the atom then there are other passive speakers that would probably be better. Both the Ruark and Kef speakers I have are active. The Kefs work well with the Bluesound, but there wasn’t a USB-in option on the 1st bluesound. There might be now. That meant I couldn’t really get the link up I needed for using the same speakers for zoom/team meetings.
I’ll get the tape measure out later. Not sure myself TBH
I agree, there are a lot of assumptions here.
Hi,
Where did you get the grills on the SBLs?
M
The same Markie as the soft ones. I’m sure if you send him this photo that he remembers it.
Lovely wood grain and the stands look excellent. How do they sound?
Thank you IainW - They do sound great out of the box in this small room.
They look like LS3/5a. Which msnufacturer?
Yes, they are ls3/5a from Rogers. They are the brand new ones.
