Merry Christmas. How long did you had the Nagras and where at Naim did you come from? Reasons to change? Heard some Nagras recently on end of a DeVore 93 and it was magical. It was fronted by the Nagra Cd player.
Gosh that’s some imagination you’ve got there my friend, but I can fully appreciate what you’re trying to achieve, and I applaud you. It’s not the same with bog standard 60 watt led plain white lamps!!
Are they your wardrobes, or the system speakers, lol!
Almost
Thanks:-)
Merry Christmas ! (Sorry wrong reply)
I had Naim +20 years, Nait, NaitCB, NAT2, Nap90, 250, 250DR, 282, 252, HDX, NDX, NDX2, NDS, Core, ND555, SBL, Ovator400, Focal…ah , NDAC as well…
I changed gear and tested many amps, sources (Linn Klimax full, McIntosh, Devialet)… then I tried Nagra Melody (had this pre amp for years), later on Classic pre and now finally the power amp. In the searching for the sound that makes me happy l landed in the Nagra camp finally
@pylod
I may have a crack at the 3 days of Woodstock next…
Ah. Thank you for your reply. That is interresting to hear. Most probably not the right theme to discuss in this thread. I checked for a thread you might have opened regarding your swap, but didn t fine anything on the forum.
Anyway beautiful little boxes.
Enjoy!
Celestion Ditton 25 purchased new in 1972 and still totally original.
So 50th anniversary next year.
n-SATS & n-Sub a rare sight these days.

Ah my speakers are also enjoying their 50th anniversary, though 48 years only in my possession…I purchased then second hand in 1974!! Probably manufactured in about 1970 or 1971.
They were only made for a few years as in my model before upgrades with changes to the bass driver.
I have Rogers BBC Studio Monitors…which is a 3 way design in a 2 cu ft cabinet…“Produced under Licence from the British Broadcasting Company” it says on the label, which makes then an LS5/6…(which became Export Monitors then Studio 1 then Studio 1a. These later iterations were subject to changes during their life, and perhaps these changes meant too much variation to the LS5/6 specs hence no reference to the Licensing from the BBC after the BBC Studio Monitors.
These are mounted with bluetac on Foundation T 10/S Stands.
Yes, I know some of the “Why Don’t you do this or that” might suggest the positioning of speakers either side of the chimney breast (“why don’t you remove it…”) is far from ideal, but the room is only 11 feet by 14 feet and we have to live with the hifi, not by it. Sometimes I used to re-arrange the room when I had time on my own, and listen to “serious music” but we could not live with that arrangement of the speakers in the room.
Sometimes I thought we might move to a detached house, where I could have a room for the hifi, and enjoy the system at its best, but that never happened, and I doubt it will now. That is a story for another time…
I think most of us make compromises.
Hi Paul,
The image conveys a vibration of nostalgia to Ditton 66 that I had from 1980 until about five years ago.
Rolla Celestion knew how to produce wonderfully efficient and involve speakers - less hi-fi, more music …
Looking at system pictures over the last year, (or years) is seems the compromises are few and far, perhaps a matter of which cable or which new box sounds better than the one already in place!!
I have written before that I have been very content with my modest system, for the most part one that is well out of place among most here, and that has been how to accept my compromised system.
At the time the purchase was very extravagant, but I was doing well enough to convince myself I could afford it, but since times it has been a source of guilt, and a matter of my miss-spent resources.
Shortly after I brought the MAr352s (1984, to go with Ariston rd80 and kenwood/trio tuner/amp) I saw a naim nait for the first time. A couple of years ago I decided that it was time to go for a streamer and make it a naim nova. The r352s still sound lovely to my ears but I know I’m not getting the best out of the nova. I’ve listened to pmc 25.23i which I liked but not as satisfying somehow despite the detail. I’ll be auditioning other stuff next year as my piggy bank comes up to the task of replacing them.
So are mine.
I was going to purchase some isolation pads for the stands but the BluTac did a good job and it has never happened.
Perhaps it is the secret to great sound !
I always hankered after big brother 66’s but were too expensive at the time and now going for even bigger money.
My 25’s cost me £87 or £89 in 1972.
I purchased some Spendor A5’s, which are a nice speaker (but improved by the A5R) a few years ago.
They never made to my hi-fi room as they could not match my big old Ditton sound (maybe a lesson there). They are in the lounge. The original reason for their purchase was I thought the Ditton’s were loosing their puff. However a NAC72 upgrade and addition of a Hi-Cap2 transformed the sound. It was not the speakers after all (maybe a lesson there too).
