At least!
Is your balance that badly out on the Nait 2??
Fantastic combo and room! Congrats.
2nd 555ps already knocking on your door…?
I think if you look at the cost and the sound of a “modest” Naim system it is surprising;y expensive in insurance terms to replace
I think worthy of a stand alone topic in Padded Cell rather than System Pics , but here’s my answer
Really like the shelves, could you tell me the make and model?
Thanks
Tim
They’re Blok Stax but the wooden sides have been replaced with those that I made myself out of MDF and veneered them in Cherry
Thank you!
Planned - but need to get some more money in the bank first!
Ooh walnut - I would buy some!
Stunning pictures. Put my hasty snap to shame - though I wanted to do a snap of the room and kit, not just the boxes themselves
Thanks Tony. I enjoy the challenge of trying to make Black boxes look interesting. The units are next to a bay window so there’s a decent amount of available light to help with that.
Cheers, Rack.
@Chag Well spotted! Not used for damping, it just got left in place last week when I stripped down the system to swap racks - a sheet of 8mm black perspex (plexiglas-glass) cut to the dimensions of the shoe box cases and fitted with small silicone feet underneath. Originally used under my Nait2 when placed on my desk. Although not needed now, I just pop it on top of the amps when I do a rack rebuild in case I drop anything.
@anon27418182 In a word, yes! I have two offset listening positions, one at the drawing board, the other at the computer, and an optimal sweet spot futon sofa (not pictured) for dedicated evening and weekend listening. I’ll try and snap a phone panoramic later to show the layout, and add that to the original post. Despite the compromises, it does sound pretty good off axis.
Some years ago, somewhere around 7 I think, I downsized to a Supernait2 and have never regretted it. It’s a great amp.
I stream from an Auralic Aires mini into RME ADI2 fs dac and a spin vinyl on my Funk Firm LSD into a Trilogy 906 phono amp. Over Xmas I saw Kudos X2 speaker on offer at ridiculously low price due to now being out of production so took a punt. They are just running in but early thoughts are really quite positive.
A very modest system.
The AURALiC Aries Mini is a most underrated piece of kit in my opinion.
I agree, I have tried/demo’d a few streamers up to £1500 and nothing I’ve heard has beaten it.
Our living room set-up… In addition to playing music, Naim handles the front L and R for the video playback…
Tried many speakers in this room and always come back to the Monitor Audio GX 300s. They just work here…
I believe that is why they stopped manufacturing it - it was eating into their more expensive streamer sales.
What’s the Blackstar amp? Is it an Artisan 30? Great amps.
