Nice, how are the classic Extrema and Electa getting along with the more recent Elipsa Auditor?
Bonkers but lush ATB Peter
Yep Extremas bi amped (4 x135âs) amators, ellipsas, Cremona centre and 3 Cremona Subs with external amps EQâs and time aligned, so 9 135âs and 3 sub amps. a 32.5 and Supercap in line with the L,R. Thinking of adding a meridian 621 and 4 naim DACs
Zero issue with fan noise but a tiny bit of hum with 9 135âs, one Supercap, and 3 large sub amps, but not as much as you might think
I have LPSâs for everything the mini dsp, the Lumagen, the Panasonic 4K player and run seperate lines for the CU for all video and digital
The old and new Sonus Faber get on very well indeed. a number of people believe that cinema systems are different to two channel, it took me a while to realise what sounds good in two channel sounds good in multichannel and more importantly what sounds rubbish in two channel sounds rubbish in multichannel
When that paramount lion roars, the light dims at your neighbours.
Aah The Bowie Archer. Did you get yours through the V&A at the time of the exhibition?
My fave ever pic of Bowie. Almost bought a copy myselfâŚ
I have one myself. I agree itâs a stunning photo. Was my first ever gig so I just had to get one.
Thanks for the post⌠Yes I agree that working the room is going to be your best bet before you do anything with different equipment or even room treatment⌠trying to find the ideal seating position and then position your system around that. Unfortunately it is easier said than done! I have a single âsweet spotâ which I have gradually moved closer and closer to my speakers over the past few months, which also affects toe-in. I do have my speakers placed as far apart as I can with fairly extreme toe-in (about 35%) and I did start with my listening chair a little further from my speakers but then started moving it closer and closer to the front wall. Where I am at right now is giving me the most expansive sound field and most defined and robust bass. Though Iâm certain that my treatment is playing a part as well. You are correct in that âworking the roomâ is most often going to be the first step to getting the best out of any system. Room layout and domestic harmony play a big factor in what is possible, but it shouldnât mean anyone should just give up plop down their system and hope for the best.
Iâve never heard the fans on mine, not even slightly, mains buzz yes before we had a dedicated mains fitted. Might be worth getting them looked at when you can?
Thanks for the reply, Colin. I had them fully serviced at Naim last year. I am using them in a considerably smaller room than before, so I am not sure if the fans have come on since the service.
In all fairness, when I used them in my a/v set-up, I sometimes found my ears were ringing slightly as I had it quite loud, I suppose.
I am using 2x5m NACA5, in accordance with âOliveâ so perhaps my speakers present an uneven load?
I wonder if Naim would actually test the fans in other that they worked and maybe the fans only start making a noise when they warm up? I have no idea really sorry
I bought it when it was released from St Paulâs Gallery, https://stpaulsgallery.com/product/david-bowie-signed-the-archer-limited-edition-print-by-john-rowlands/paid ÂŁ1,500 which I thought it was a lot but it has gone up considerable. Must have been at a similar time to the V@A exhibition.
Lovely looking TT and system. Very nice.
Thank you James, just a quick snap, didnât get the speakers in there, itâs a start!
That looks marvellous!
and so nice to see an actually owned unusual TT/arm!
Thank you, yes, they are unique, I really enjoy it even with my low spec Nagaoka cartridge on it.
I have to say as well, it made me realize just how good the built in MM phono stage in the Nait is, well done Naim!
Nice deck ! And I like the Duevel speakers too. The sound is very spacey and immersive.
