That’s good to hear I’ll try it at some point this week.
Hi Tim, Happy New Year and hope your OK.
When all this is over I’d love to come back again for a listen to your new updated system. Looks fabulous.
You have a nice window on the left hand side so if you were to take some more pictures yourself I would recommend you take your photo’s in the daytime when the sun is out but not when it’s coming directly through the window.
So indirect light and not direct sunlight.
Then take the photo’s from the rack end towards the window. That should make a massive improvement.
It all depends how dark it gets down that end of the room and whether the window light can travel that far.
Try and use the reflected light from the window across the front of the black boxes. I seem to remember you have a front door there also next to the window so you could also try opening the door as a secondary light source from the same direction of the window.
My 2020 changes were pretty significant
- HCDR -> SCDR
- 282 -> 252
- 250DR -> 300DR
- PMC Twenty 5.26 -> Kudos Titan 606
- LP12 Cirkus -> Karousel
- LP12 top plate -> Tangerine Audio Karmen
No 2021 changes planned.
Agreed but looking at some very impressive systems on this thread it is modest.
Before I downsized my system was insured for £25k and there’s no denying it was wonderful but I never settled I was always fiddling to ensure I was getting everything out of it. Now I just play music and smile (and tap my feet of course)
You’d be very welcome to visit when the regulations permit - I think you will hear a very big improvement from last time
I am capable of doing better photos - been rather run down this Christmas due to over work for 2-3 months. Starting to feel more normal today but have been very lacking in energy to take care over hifi photos! Also have a bit of an issue with something wrong with the system - hopefully get sorted soon - but that’s a bit dispiriting
The window and door at the front face pretty much west so maybe around middle of day best for natural light?
Some seriously beautiful rooms and lovely systems, just wow!
Here’s my little offering - my HCDR is currently awaiting a new level for the rack, due to C19 there’s been delays covering months now, so I’ve adapted. Also, the glass shelves were cut at a local glass shop and I’ve added Naim Cups and Ball Bearings to finish them off. I have cards atop my deck, because of the cats!
May as well close the thread now. Winner of the best pics for me!
wow that is one beast of a Yamaha power amp for surround sound
Indeed the view is stunning. And I share the pleasure of having K6s. Mine are note signature though.
The store where I worked PT and where I was introduced to Naim sold that piece. Weighed a ton, and cost quite a bit IIRC.
Went through the same process , downsized box count, speaker size . Incorporated my AV more fully into it and improved components such as the turntable, the only things left from two years ago are the CD player (CDX2) the cables and the rack.
Very happy with sound , but to replace would sill make my insurers eyes water. This thread is really important as it shows any loss adjuster photographic evidence
Use it for the centre and rear speakers…
To my immense surprise a totally different set up this year. My RP8, Naim 282/250dr, two Hicap drs, Flatcap XS, NAT05xs and Mac mini/audirvana all gone and replaced by a new Chord and Innuos system that is just a delight.
For a short period of time, until I buy some vintage Naim for my man cave, I am, for the first time in a long time, without any Naim boxes!
As these are still sitting in my rack in 2021, it’s only fair to post again.
Working out to hook up the 72 into the MF Nu-vista Power amp…
use a Marantz NR1608 7.1 atmos surr amp that does all that
A cosy set off pics in such a cold and damp day today ‘’though we did have a nice walk down the canal this morning very frosty though with a good few inches off ice on the water
What a setup! Congrats, @jodl!
Must be an extra ordinary pleasure to enjoy great music coming out the 808s and having a sip out of that Rochelt bottle during listening.
Based on your wonderful picture I now decided what kind of drink I will have this evening during my music enjoyment. Thanks for the inspiration.
You’d need a Hicap fit that. Told you slippery slope
