I love them, just listening to them now. I’ve looked at replacing them with speakers 3 times the cost and have sent them back. I know I’ll probably replace them eventually.
That’s the problem lol you would need to spend a ton to beat them.
They don’t work in every room but that’s the same with all speakers but dialled in they are magical.
They have given me 25 years of faith service, I once thought they lack a little bottom end however once I added the NAP250 they opened right up.
Don’t - last you a live time
I worry about the tweeters and crossovers. My youngest grandson put his finger through one of the tweeters, luckily there was no damage and I popped it out using a vacuum cleaner.
Nice to see a Michell deck in Non-SE guise. It may be form over function, but the Orbe and Gyrodec look much better fully dressed, so to speak.
But what speakers would you go for Pete ? Plenty out there but yours are difficult to replace especially at today’s prices
That’s the problem.
Taken me 35 years plus to find probably nirvana what you have had for many years - for me it’s NEAT speakers with Naim gear, but that’s just me
It’s been a long journey let me tell you but I’m now really happy that god
It’ll probably be Neat as our beloved dealer carries them and I do think they work well with Naim. The question is which ones.
Well Pete good question - I think you have a 25ODR as I do
I have the stand mount XLS’s which in my opinion are just sensational, in my room and with 252/SCDR it’s just a great combo , very satisfying I must say
If you’re not into stand mounters have a look at the new Neat Okestra’s which evidently are pretty special but not sure our illustrious dealer has them yet .
All good fun, but no hurry you have excellent speakers as our dealer has told me . It’s all great with Naim
I worry about bass with stand mounted speakers but I’ve never really listened to good ones.
Plenty of bass in the neat XLS’s - isobaric loading ( as in the Linn speakers on days gone by) sounds just right for me
But each to their own
What I love about Neat is that Bob the owner of Neat is also a musician so his aim is to create music in a live situation which at the end of the day is what it is all about . It just does it for me . He voices the speakers with not only Naim gear but also others , a wonderful gent to have a chat with , he s hoping to get back into live gigs shortly in a few pubs and venues around where he lives
Can’t say I’ve got very far this morning, Chris Jones’ ‘ Roadhouses & Automobiles ‘ is sounding rather lush this morning ATB Peter
I couldn’t live without the lid, it attracts so much dust as it is, yes me too, I prefer the full version of the Orbe over the SE visually as well. It does look a lot better with the lid off altogether but it’s too much hassle and I can’t actually tell the difference sonically either way
Didn’t have it on mind, but yes.
They’re very good! Look up Solid-Sounds in Leeds.
It’s as Nigel says , it started as a running joke, then a thread . Probably somebody put their feet up as they used their iPhone to take the picture , and there have been some seriously weird footwear
I suspect the pets and hifi thread was similar in origin
Even with the Pandemic there’s got to be more to life than this socks rubbish!
