Just boxed up the TEAC deck for the move and set up the new SL-1200GR by eye 10 mins ago. Still waiting for the cartridge to arrive so dug out an old Sumiko Oyster. Sounding mighty fine from cold.
Yes there’s dust everywhere. We’ve only a few more months here and have really let the place go.
@Rafael Hi Rafael. The reasons why I bought the CD3T are as follows. I wanted a CD transport. I had always hoped that Naim might give CD playing functionality to the Core, like the CD ripper/player of the Naim Uniti Star. I only had space on my Naim Fraim, next to the Naim Core, as I did not another level of Fraim. So, obviously that ruled out a lot of CD transports. The reviews I read of the CD3T seemed to be quite positive. I bought the transport blind, in that I had not heard it before purchase. What sealed the deal was I saw it advertised at a very reasonable price, plus I got further discount. This was before last price increase on Bel Canto products.
As for the sound. Well to be truthful, I have only played it once due to other commitments and also only just receiving my Naim 222. What I remember through the Atom HE, was the transport mechanism was smooth and the sound was good to my ears.
I hope this helps. Any further questions, please feel free to ask.
P.S. Regrding being placed centrally on a Fraim. Yes, this could be achieved with mains lead provided and a digital lead like Naim DC1 or Audioquest Carbon. However, if you looked at more exotic mains and digital cable, then the thickness of the cable might increase and it’s flexibility might decrease. Hence, it’s bend radius might decrease. You will need a certain amount of flexibility in the cables, to avoid the rear Fraim support.
BEAUTIFUL! Lovely stand as well. My zmf dealer sold me a Room’s stand to go with it. He suggested it’s better if the pads don’t clam to something else after listening sessions, to give them some air/ventilation.
I have never managed to keep a houseplant alive. I’ve upgraded to Cactii. Looking good so far. I’ve also found a range of plastic tropical plants on eBay that are reasonably priced for 3-4ft potted examples. I’ll share once installed.
The plant was a casualty of a cheap flat with few windows and no places to put a plant by the few we did have. To say where we are now is a challenging living environment is an understatement. 4 sleeping in one room with 3 beds just mashed up against each other so the door will open. Was sure we’d only be here 12-18 months. That was nearly 3 years ago.
That boxed up TEAC, has become a footstool under my desk. So the dead plant is the least of my worries.
Higher up on the list of concerns is Mrs. FZ returning from a business trip and asking me “has something changed in that corner? I thought I told you no more using the hifi. That corner has been requisitioned for drying clothes. Can you turn it all off and put the clothes rack back now please.”
The stand is from ZMF as well. There is very little clamping because how thin the stand is vs one of those Omega stands. So it shouldn’t wear out the pads quicker. And has just enough clamp to give them extra hold to the stand. You can also hang another pair or drape the cables over them like this.
My parents had them in their Scottish house.
I ended up with them when we cleared and sold the house last year.
They are 300x400x10 Granite Floor Tiles. They work well, but I am going to buy 2 400x400x10 tiles as they are just a little bit on the small side.
£20 buys 2 400x400 on most online tile stores.
Only visible change over 2022 was the speakers - after 20 years of ownership I sold the NBLs and replaced them with a pair of Kudos speakers. Hidden changes include internal circuitry change to the Radikal and LP12 to bring it up to Radikal II mod standard and swapped the Sarum SSA into RCA for Sarum T into DIN.
The only thing I’m considering for 2023 might be a change of speaker cables from SuperLumina to KS-1.
