System Pics 2024

Very nice system in your attractive room. The furniture and the speakers go well together and create a beautiful harmony. The fact that the speakers can stand quite freely certainly helps the sound quality (correct placement is more important than some fancy upgrades). I also had a system with a Uniti Atom for several years and was always surprised how good it sounded. I also had the Atom on an Ikea Aptitlik butchers block. A very inexpensive and effective option. A glass top (tempered glass) with special ball bearings has further improved the sound quality. If you are interested Click here.. Enjoy your system!

Thanks Wilfried. I surely will look into your hack

You’re quite right. My bad :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Looks lovely, straight out of a magazine!

I have my atom on an isolation platform (wood block and glass on ball bearings - plenty of relatively cheap solutions on the bay.)

Yes, this loudspeaker was part of a project involving Aliante, Quad and
Pininfarina. Unfortunately, after a pre-series derived directly from Aliante
prodution (Moda and One PF) this project was discontinued by the new
property of Quad brand.

Thanks. And this looks like a premium magazine

That’s good to hear! I’m very pleased with mine but, I confess, I didn’t listen to any others. Buying used, I went for the Sovereign on the strength of its reviews and it really paid off.

@frenchrooster suggested putting a granite shelf or isolation base under my TT, which perhaps I should try. Have you done this with yours?

Which version do you have? I changed from Mk 3C to Mk 4 and it proved to be a significant improvement.

You have also, as in this pic from Positive Feed, the acoustics butcher block.

I have had a 20mm granite shelf under my TT for some time, it was a big improvement compared with it resting on the audio stand. I have 4 IsoAcoustic Orea isolation feet under the granite shelf.

Generally it’s advised to have a minimum of 4mn granite thickness. You would not need normally to add the Oreas.
Mine is 5mn. Worked perfectly with my ex SME 20, now Rega P10.

The Oreas did make a difference sound wise for me, and also makes the TT shockproof from my suspended floor. I can jump up and down in front of the stand without any impact on the playback

Mk 3-2 with the multi-layer platter option and a Mk 5 motor pod. I’ll be sticking with that, though. It’s easily good enough for me!

I agree and understand. But if you had 4mn or 5mn granite base, I can say with confidence that you could dance in front of your turntable.
But you have 2mn, the reason you can’t.

It’s actually 20mm.

That does not look credible, flat surface to flat surface.

Sorry, typo error. I mean you need 3 cm minimum, so 30 mn.
3 mn granit slab would be a difficult work to make I guess.

Flat to flat…

Agreed

Perhaps I should have got 30mm, but I think the Oreas may compensate.
