It was one I posted a few months ago as a joke about a new outdoor speaker.
It’s in Paris: I saw it when meeting a friend for lunch near Sacre Coeur.
It’s an uncanny resemblance!
@SamClaus gave some extra info. Architect is Jean Nouvel
I also find it odd that a lot of people on this forum seem to favor Kudos, PMC,ATC, Dynaudio and a few other brands. There are a lot of other great brands out there to choose from that are worth exploring. I have personally tried many different speakers over the years, I will not list them all.
Currently quite happy with my Kharma DB7’s, I know everyone always recommends the speakers they use, but if I ran full Statement electronics, I would certainly shop around.
Kharma makes an appropriate match, the Exquisite Classique…at 145 k euros.
Hey, I resemble that remark
Chuckle.
Surely not the same surname? What are the chances!
G
This is the height of the Focal Grand EM Evo speakers;
This is the height of the Statement amplifier for comparison;
DG…
Not only seem to favor Kudos, also tend to hate Focal and that’s for (from a polite perspective) being too much conservative…never mind…
Those Karma looks very impressive! never heard them, as far as I know they must be great!
I wonder if the Nagra classic amp you are owning (based on your profile) can drive them well…
All the best
Out of interest, what is the seemingly irrational (in my book) dislike of Focal speakers? I have a pair of Sopra No.1s and I think they are a superb sounding and looking pair of speakers.
Mostly seems to be resentment around a perception that Naim are the junior partner in the combined organisation and are no longer a proud independent British company.
I live in an apartment building now, so ear splitting concert volumes are a thing of my past.
The Nagra Classic certainly drives my speakers very well. I would want something a little more powerful , like Statement with those Exquisite speakers I think.
The nice thing about my amp is that you can flip a switch on the back to make it a mono amp, with twice the power if needed. Then I would need two, maybe one day.
By the way, I once used Sopra 1’s with Naim gear, sounded superb to my ears.
Focal speakers need time to run in , especially its beryllium tweeter . Hundreds and hundreds of hours … it will reveal its potential…many said that focal utopia are analytical, I feel it has its charm .
Waiting to replace the NSC222 with a NAC332 next week but had a reorganisation and split into 2 racks. I don’t like tall racks as the rest of the room is low ‘Japanese style’.
Yes I am using an Atom HE as a streamer - for now.
I have owned three speakers with Beryllium tweeters, Taksim Reference 3A’s, Sopra 1’s and my current Kharmas. I really liked all three, maybe because I am a machinist, plus lots of loud concerts/stereos over the years has taken the top end off my hearing?
The two low racks look much better - you must have had a load of extra shelf bits stashed away somewhere. What are the speakers? They are not new as well, are they?
I am not sure they will work well with Naim. They are currently associated with tubes, like your system. But we never know.
I remember when i posted some Kharma here, before you bought them, some people said they look like a coffin. I find them beautiful.
Borresen too.
I suggest you that one, will match your Japanese style :
Ha yes, for 20 years. Still have a shelf left.
The speakers are Atom GT1. French high quality rear port stand mounts. Very controlled.
Do you mean Atohm? They look super.
Ah yes. Atohm. Typo. Thanks unobtrusive and sound good too. I like the way the bass can be tuned by distance from the wall.
That’s a very nice clean-looking set up Brendan.
