The XS3 is a new addition to my setup with a non-Naim PS on hand
To avoid your post being moderated, I suggest you edit it to maintain a diplomatic silence about the box on the bottom shelf of your rack.
Nice looking, simple system.
As you like Jazz have you tried Jazz24 radio?
DG…
I haven’t … I suppose I stopped casting around for jazz streams when I discovered JazzGroove.org. I have been a subscriber for about 5 years. The SQ is good (FLAC), there are various streams (I choose the one without vocals because that is what I like) and, blessedly, for subscribers there are no ads. It costs $100 pa; I am always reluctant to subscribe to anything but am happy to pay this. I might try Jazz24 following your suggestion. Thanks.
Jazz24 is free to stream, but they do take donations if you would like to.
Based in the UK and Jazz24 based in Seattle, I do send them a monthly donation as I listen to it a lot and enjoy it.

Oops, my bad ![]()
Everything is relative, would sound even better with Ethernet ![]()
it might - but then one is down the rabbit hole of switches and cables - i love the simplicity of wi-fi
Might do. I figure that if my TV can stream 4K video over WiFi then the streamer should have more than enough to do a good job. It would be possible to bring an Ethernet cable to the streamer as there is a supply behind the TV, but I hate seeing wires and can’t be bothered with trying to fiddle the cable behind the plasterboard when the SQ is already excellent and streaming is totally glitch-free. (I have 500mbps full fibre in the next room).
Looks fab!
I started to dabble with hifi diy last year but only got as far as speakers. I did come across the Ian Canada products when looking for the next project but struggled to find a good “cook book” to help understand the principles of creating something like this but this looks fantastic and stimulates the interest again…
…I wonder if you are able to share an info source (obviously within the bounds of forum rules) which might help any of us interested in this magnificent effort and creating something simillar?
Do you still use the NJC DAC, or have you replaced it with Chord?
An A-B comparison would certainly be interesting. When I bought the streamer I fully expected to have to bring an Ethernet cable to it - possible but a certain amount of work - on the basis of what Naim recommends and ‘common sense’ but everything works magnificently on WiFi so I haven’t bothered. The SQ is stunning, at least to my ears so, at the moment, I don’t feel the push to sort out Ethernet. Unfortunately, as things are in my house, I can’t see an easy way to rig up a temporary arrangement to see if I can tell any difference when using Ethernet vs. WiFi.
Ethernet adds noise unless you take great care to eliminate it. Wifi does not add noise. If you have a good bandwidth then I find wifi a better solution.
Hi @rhodsutton i still have the NJC DAC but this is now working in my headphone set up as i all so have the NJC headphone amp.
If you are happy with it, why worry? Just stick with the wifi.
Hi @chris5 like you i was a bit at a loss to see how it all worked YouTube helped a bit but if you find something on Ian’s website you can download the manual and this is how i got an understanding of some of the bit’s (had to read over & over) as it’s a lot to take in.
I went for one off the simple set up’s like dipping your tow in the water to see how good it was and it was way better than anything i had put together before.
All so looking at the power filter i went for one just to power my DAC it’s a bit like fitting a linear power supply but way cheaper.
So all i can say is Ian Canada stuff is very good quality but you need to know what you want to do with your set up & read up what the part’s all do.
If i can help further with my limited knowledge let me know.
What are your views of the NJC?
Agree, if you’re happy with it then no worries.
@rhodsutton Good people to deal with and very helpful, the DAC & amp are of a very good quality, the DAC is very neutral sounding.
Thanks. Think I’m going to experiment with DACs and was attracted to this one, being no nonsense British built.
