Thanks, that’s most kind. We had the fireplace replaced a few years ago. The fire is electric so can be turned on to look cosy, without emitting any heat, and if you don’t look too closely it’s quite realistic.

Just a little change around. I reinstalled the SPL Phonitor headphone amp/pre (connected to the bartok by xlr) to ATC 40a’s. The t/t (and bartok) are connected to the N50 used for headphones only.

How is the difference between Statements and top Boulder?
What is the tubes amp in the middle top?

Nice systems. It would be nice to know what is in each one? Many forum users include this information in their user profiles then they don’t have to keep answering the same questions again and again.

Statement fast and and full of rhtym but a little bright paired with the Focal. Boulder is more meat, warm and laser focus. Images are more solid and less bright. The “tube amp” is actually a Lampizator Horizon 1 DAC fed by Antipodes Oladra. Mightily impressed by the Antipodes. Files as source is neck and neck with the DCS stack playing disc. Finally I can say I am happy with a “streamer”.

@joeling Have you ever thought about top range Wilson audio speakers. Heared them once - the impression they left is very sustainable

If I had equipment like that I would be ok answering the same question “again and again”

Yes they are nice but if and only if there will be any upgrade in the future, Rockport speakers are the only one on my list. Very impressed by them in most systems I heard.

My NSC222 is poorly (left channel cutting out) so my dealer has lent me a Linn Select DSM Organik while it’s sorted out. A demo 222 was available but thought I may as well give the Linn a go.

Sounds very good, but different to the 222 - “drier” is the phrase that comes to mind. I believe it’s significantly more expensive than the 222 (£9k ? vs £6k). Also noticed that I need to play at higher output volume vs the 222 to get the same listening volume.

It’s very difficult to assess objectively without a side by side comparison - all good fun though !

Your profile would suggest you prefer the ‘bare’ 222, no psu, to the Selekt.

I’ve only heard the Selekt/Organik vs the 222 + 300 and I would have to agree with you :+1:.

That’s interesting to hear. I have not heard the 222 with the external power supply - the bare 222 sounds pretty damn good to my cloth ears. The jury is out on the Linn at the moment, but as I say it’s very difficult without a side by side comparison. Not looking to change anything (or spend more £££ !) at the moment, I’ll just be happy to get the 222 back when it’s fixed.

Quintessential Naim vs Linn sound, A-B is not even needed.

Perhaps even curiouser, when I auditioned the Selekt (dual amps, dual Organik, active configuration into Kudos 505’s), I also listened to the Naim Uniti Nova PE to get a take on Naim’s implementation of Class D….. and I preferred the PE to the Linn, which to be honest was a bit of a shocker.

My primary driver was looking at a one-box solution as an alternative to my 222/300/250 and, whilst sorely tempted, wasn’t moved enough to change.

Would be good to read your impressions after you get your 222 returned, those speakers will be most revealing.

I’m still tempted by the ATC 20 actives for a partial box count reduction :innocent:.
