One thing I forgot to mention yesterday regarding the Linn Selekt - did the dealer select your ATC speakers in the advanced settings for you? The Linn settings have hundreds of speakers pre-configured for the Selekt and so it is worth going into the settings and making sure you have the ATCs selected. I would also recommend switching off Space Optimisation if it is turned on. In my experience you will find the sound is a lot more engaging and less flat.

My new Hifi set up I sold my Rega aethos. I now have a chord Alto headphone amplifier with my linn streamer naim cd player Rega p6 record player focal utopia headphones very good sound.

No speaker selection was done - I’ll take look in settings. I had a feeling that speaker selection was part of the space optimisation set-up ? - but I’m probably wrong. Thanks

Hi, no the speaker selection is just part of the normal settings rather than space optimisation. But there are additional settings in SO for speakers. I’d also recommend turning SO off.

I’m quite new to this level of kit, but listening at the moment and I wouldn’t describe the Selekt into the active 50s as anaemic; it’s certainly a different presentation than I’m used to. More clinical, with more detail compared to the 222 perhaps. If I hadn’t heard the Naim and was listening to this combo in isolation - I’d be more than happy, I suspect.
The build quality (external) of the Naim seems much higher than the Linn. Although I believe there’s a higher quality casing option for the Linn (even more £££..)

Haha. Good observation. I have had plants for over 6 years, but there has been a significant other who has moved in and she loves the plants and the Naim kit, so a win win.

Yes I did had focal kanta 1 took them away neighbour says my music was a bit loud so I traded my Rega amplifier in. I have a system upstairs I will post it soon when I get my Hifi Rose rs250a I can get away with it a wee bit upstairs.

It’s Handy when you have a headphone set up if you are setting up late having a beer you are not annoying anybody.

My little setup in 2026. Found I wasn’t playing records as much lately so the RP6 is in the closet for now. Other than that the only change is replacing my Ares 2 DAC with the 2nd hand Pontus 2 which is a nice upgrade. Only other plan for this year is replacing the DMP-A6 streamer with the new T8. Then I can be happy forever.
