I came across these two by chance, they look very modern and up-to-date in my opinion, but have people had the chance to listen to them yet?
Just wondering how these would compare against a Rega Planar 1 plus …

Yes had the same question for the youth here after I saw them appearing online the other day, will follow with interest. Over here they retail for around 30% more than a Planar Plus though.
Many who are commenting online have not yet heard them, but already take issue with that price point versus other options outside or within the Technics world.
Both have built-in phono stages, but the 40 has bluetooth, the 50 does not (but adds 78rpm) and is only available in the US. MDF plinth and very un-Technics looking in a good way.
By the look of them I think I would try to find the little bit extra for an SL-100C, which on a performance/£ basis looks to be something of a bargain.
SL-100C - I had this very deck for about a year before going all-in on a 1210GR2. Amazing bargain on a black Friday purchase.
The original question was “compared to a Rega Planar 1 Plus”, so with a built-in phono stage.
There’s a (young) target group for that. The SL-100C doesn’t have a built-in phono stage, the SL-1500 does have that and is even nicer. Both at around double the price of the Rega though.
