That’s silly!

Naim plugs are only required on NACA5 due to its stiffness. Not needed on flexible cables. I have normal banana plugs on the phantoms and they are fine.

What a surprise seeing you here Mr Steel!

I have been using Kudos K1 cables for 3 weeks now, replacing Naim NACA5 on Kudos Titan 606, powered by 552DR/300DR suplied from CDS3/555DR.
I must say they are a revelation. Tight articulate bass, lovely mid and superbly detailed treble. So so sweet and I am hearing more detail on many recordings.
I also tried WH Phantoms but didnt get on with them as they were a slightly smoother version of the NACA5.
They are keepers and an absolute bargain.

Does anyone know the capacitance and the inductance of this cable?

Assuming you mean Kudos KS1; it looks similar to Chord types such as Odyssey.
Kudos (much like Chord) don’t publish any specs but its form & construction will result in ball park numbers around 60pF/m & 0.6uH/m.
It has 19 strands of silver-plated OFC insulated with FEP & a PVC outer jacket.
I also found another www thats says its 15AWG - (using AWG is something that Chord also use, odd for a Euro/metric country) 15AWG is 1.65mm/2

As a comparison Chord Odyssey is
12AWG = 3.31mm/2, 19 strand silver-plated OFC, PTFE insulation, silicon outer jacket @ 8mm OD…
My own test results for Odyssey are 56pF/m & 0.6uH/m

Hi all!
I received a few days ago my ks1 cables, which replaced chord epic twin in my system (cd5/sn2/kudos c20).
My first impression are:

  • a much greater « boogie factor » than before
  • tighter and deeper bass
  • very detailed mids
  • but shy treble with little expansion.
Am I the only one to have this feeling?
Should I go through a proper and lengthy burn in period?
    Happy to have your thoughts!

Don’t bother about burn in, just enjoy your music :musical_note: :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you Debs, I certainly do !

But my point is more on that shy treble I’m experiencing.
Do you guys have the same sensation of having a (too) polite treble with Ks-1 cables?

The SBL tweeters sound wonderful here with KS-1

Perhaps the treble you have experienced before was forward, and it is this what you have gotten used to.

I’m thankful the KS-1 is what it is with excellent tonal deliverance, nothing worse than an over-bright cable foisting a shouty Scanspeak to fatigue the eardrums.

Folk have on occasion even criticised Kudos speakers [ such as C20 ] for being over-bright, so perhaps you only need to persevere with the music play for a while, and allow your ears to acclimatise (?) :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi All,
My kudos needed a fair amount of burn-in period. Now that’s over and the Ks-1 sound now marvelous across the whole frequency spectrum. Great move in my opinion!
Just for fun, has anyone compared the Kudos Ks-1 cable with Super-Lumina cable? I’m amazed that some of you guys chose the Kudos cable in your rather high-end Naim system…

Very expensive cables may merely sound different, or perhaps better but with law of diminishing returns.
The KS-1 speaker cable performs exceedingly well between my 500 & SBLs, a noticeably improvement over NACA5, and the fact it costs a little less is admirable.

Fitting my KS-1 cable in last April, didn’t need any burning in at all, sounded right from the get-go. Haven’t giving it much thought since, i forget all about it because lets me get on and enjoy the music :notes: :grinning:

Yup. Likely true of both speaker & interconnect cables, IMHO. There is an ‘difference’ which is discerned, with a ‘new’ cable - and is deemed to be ‘better’.

Who would say its worse, if they had spent say… £30 per metre on new cables…

Maybe its just the ‘newness’…?

YMMV as always… :slightly_smiling_face:

£30 per meter is cheap at today’s prices…

When you bought Naim A4 for £1 per metre, £30 still seems a lot… :slightly_smiling_face:

And - remembering that Linn K20 is essentially almost the same as Naim A4…
K20 seems to cost around £5 to £6-00 per meter, currently.

Conclusion is clear - IMO (YMMV, etc).
Linn K20 is the obvious value for money choice for Naim amps… :slightly_smiling_face:

How is your Kudos terminated into your NAIM amp? Is it the NAIM connector ‘block’ or standard banana plugs? Thanks.

Standard banana plugs and they work just fine into NAP300DR.
