Like a stream of consciousness forum? That wasn’t quite the idea! But some of the discussions that become protracted might be better here…
I like the diverting conversations, much like any discussion with a friend, where the topics diverge and change as new thoughts enter the conversation, and then return to the main topic. It has always struck me how intolerant some folk are of so called thread drift, which I find interesting and an insight into a topic.
It seems to me simple to scroll past a comment in a thread, and move on. This seems not possible for some folk, who just want the narrowest view of the discussion.

I don’t mind a bit of thread drift, but for some drifts, it’s better to take them into a separate topic altogether. Makes it easier to read and contribute to such a thread too.
There are already enough people around here who think they own the place as it is, and this sort of thing will only encourage or embolden them.
Let threads drift where they will, I say.
