Quick question folks re: Beatles Sgt Peppers 50th Anniversary Giles Martin edition x 2LP.
Looking on Discogs it seems there was a two disc vinyl copy released in 2017. Was this a limited edition? As I can’t seem to find a new copy at the usual outlets, plus there are very few used copies for sale on Discogs and the prices are spicy? Only the single disc version seems to be available.
I do have the Qobuz HD download, but I’d like it on vinyl too if I can get my vinyl addicted grubby paws on a copy.
It was a ‘deluxe edition’ - you’re not missing much with second disc, unless you’re a Beatles completist
LP 1 – Sgt Pepper – new stereo mix
LP 2 – ‘Alternative’ Sgt Pepper (all previously unreleased)
LP 2 – side 3:
1 Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Take 9, speech)
2 With A Little Help From My Friends (Take 1: false start; Take 2: instrumental)
3 Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (Take 1)
4 Getting Better (Take 1: instrumental; speech at end)
5 Fixing A Hole (speech, Take 3)
6 She’s Leaving Home (Take 1: instrumental)
7 Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite! (Take 4)
LP 2 – side 4
1 Within You Without You (Take 1: Indian instruments only)
2 When I’m Sixty-Four (Take 2)
3 Lovely Rita (speech, Take 9)
4 Good Morning Good Morning (Take 8)
5 Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) (Take 8)
6 A Day In The Life (Take 1, Hummed Last Chord)
Thanks Clare. Yes, I think I’m leaning towards the single disc version which I’ll pick up next week…
Just want to ad this: I heard the She’s leaving… ( instrumental) and Whitin you ( take 1)
And it’s bloody impressive.
( both) Sound so different with less …
That seems more.
Definitely worth it.
And indeed they where masters in their crafts
