My favourite soup is Icelandic lamb soup. And at Icelandic Street Food on Lækjargata in Reykjavík they serve it in a loaf. It’s very expensive, as everything in Iceland is - but you can have as many refills as you like (apparently 11 is the record).
I’m vegan, but this looks great for those of you who aren’t. And I’m a fan of most things Icelandic.
The best, nurses everywhere generally under paid but should never be taken for granted.
Interesting.
Can you point out some of these facts please.
Biomarkers of dairy fat intake, incident cardiovascular disease, and all-cause mortality: A cohort study, systematic review, and meta-analysis
look for the above in a search, i cant post links .
Martin
higher 15:0 was associated with lower incident CVD risk in a linear dose-response manner […] and nonlinearly with all-cause mortality with a nadir of mortality risk around median 15:0.
Thanks.
Interesting result.
Does the last bit that I highlighted mean that a moderate amount of dairy is better than a lot or none?
So many brilliant suggestions here; a number I use personally.
Over the years I’ve tried just about every coffee brewing method; for me, the Aeropress tops the lot. For one cup it’s simple, consistent and easy to clean; just don’t use boiling water or the coffee will taste bitter.
Personally I prefer the V60, or the Moccamaster (does still require you to manually bloom).
Ooh err, missus!
Definitely not consistent and definitely not the best way to make coffee.
The best tool to help you dial in your grind and ratio:
For me, it is. YMMV.
You need an insulated bottle in a car. That top is a stupid gimmicky bamboo one, which is unhygienic after a while and is clearly not made with practically in mind. The opening is too narrow to clean properly, can’t put in chunks of ice and limits its use.
“Antimicrobial properties: Bamboo has natural antimicrobial properties that help reduce the presence of microbes such as bacteria and mold. This inherent quality makes bamboo a suitable material for items like toothbrushes and kitchen utensils.”
There is an insulated option but I prefer uninsulated.
The mouth width is perfect for drinking.
I don’t drink cold/ice water.
Ice Water.
Effects on Digestion
Drinking ice cold water can negatively impact the digestive process in a few ways:
- It slows down digestion by causing blood vessels in the stomach and intestines to constrict, reducing blood flow to digestive organs[1][2].
- The body has to expend energy to warm up the cold water, diverting resources away from digestion[1].
- Very cold water can solidify fats from food in the digestive tract, making them harder to break down[3].
Impacts on the Body
Ice water consumption may affect other bodily functions:
- It can trigger headaches or migraines in some people by causing blood vessels in the head to contract and expand rapidly[1].
- Drinking cold water after exercise may shock the body, as it contrasts sharply with the body’s elevated temperature[3].
- It may decrease heart rate and stimulate the vagus nerve, which controls involuntary bodily functions[3].
Respiratory and Immune Effects
Cold water can have some negative impacts on respiratory health:
- It may increase mucus production, potentially exacerbating symptoms of colds, flu, and asthma[2][4].
- The increase in mucus can create an environment more conducive to viruses and bacteria[2].
- Regularly drinking very cold water may compromise immune function over time by slowing the movement of immune cells[1].
Have a nice day.
Unbelievable. I’ll come back when I have a minute.
I started writing a reply about why there is a piece of bamboo stuck in the top in the first place and how any perceived antibacterial qualities could battle mold, then I just sank at the thought of wasting time on the cold water bit.
I’ve never been able to buy any beef stock that tasted good. Yes making your own is the only way. I do good duck ones though.
