Quite agree. I’ve found some of the recent L’Arpeggiata albums slightly disappointing. This is back to their core material and features great musicianship as always. I shall have to add it to my collection; I’ve got all their others!

Another masterpiece composed in 1788. The same year Mozart composed his last three symphonies!
Wonderful performance!

Saw it as well, I am not so fond of these Berg Lieder, but the rest of the concert was enjoyable…
We also rather enjoyed the Alpine Symphony — awesome piece of music. Berlin Phil rocks!
Agree. Wagner and Strauss were fantastic. Great concert.
I missed it but I’ll surely listen it once it gets in the archive. I call the digital concert hall my ‘guilty pleasure’ since I’ve already other subscriptions.
Never listened to this Fischer on Mahler, would you argue that’s better than the other Fischer with the Budapest Festival Orchestra ?
I don’t know the whole series. Only listened to the 4th before but this is much better. Good dynamic and clarity. Very vivid sound quality.
One of the highlights of Hyperion’s Romantic Piano Concerto series: Elmas’ piano concertos, strongly inspired by Chopin, hitting the same notes of sad melancholy. Howard Shelley is more than excellent, here.

Browsing on Qobuz I found this one:
A very dry, pure recording / performance.
Unfortunately just one track. I’d like the full cantata performed this way! No show, no opera, no acting, no present soloist just the music as it is written.
The Sitkovetsky Trio’s Mendelssohn #2 starts somewhat unconventionally, but when the team reaches the quiet passage where the violin and cello dance together against the piano’s pearly support, about four minutes in, it’s clear that this is a marvellous performance.

Mendelssohn or Ravel?
I’d like to discuss the tonality/atonality topic. It has occupied a lot of my time in my working years… Is someone interested in the subject?
I’d be interested in what people say - particularly due to the questions nature in electronic music too.
Go ahead Max!
A10y,
be careful - I have a genetic impossibility to be concise…

poulisgr,
will you please make an example of what you mean with atonal music? Most music from the last century is, to some (very variable) extent. If you specify an author or a piece, we could start from there.
Thanks,
Max
I’m certainly interested… in staying as far away from atonality that is humanly possible…
