Oh yes… it’s very deceptive when injecting. It’s also a lot of fun spraying above your head when lying on your back… btdt and it took months for the gaps in my hair to grow back from where I’d had to cut it out.
Last time I used it went everywhere and I couldn’t shut the thing off. Made a really mess.
I’ve tried a few ‘brands’ over the years. The Soudal product is the best I’ve found for control and use. As it says it’s also resealable and reusable. The other brands I’ve tried you can use once and then you have to chuck the can because it will cease up if left for a couple of days.
@Ardbeg10y it can’t tell from the photo if we are looking at the inside of an external wall, or an internal wall.
If it’s external, be wary of using expanding foam in case it breaches the gap to the external cladding. This can cause havoc with moisture ingress.
It is inside the house. Meanwhile I found that the isolation is pretty ok and no draught. I’m purely looking to close the visual gaps - there is insulation material already in there. At the other side of the house the people previously living in this house used thin wood to cover it, but I can’t go to the diy shop at the moment to check out proper wood.
As it’s inside and there is no draught, it’s all about the aesthetics. Unless exposed wood is a feature of your room, I would be inclined to cover the whole gap with plaster board and skim across the board, creating an edge if one wall is forward of the other.
But if you do have exposed wood beams, then I would leave the wood exposed, suitably treated if necessary to have the right colour and then close the gap either side with plaster.
Best
David
Certain beams will be visible, but others can be hidden like the one shown above. I’m going to do a click and collect for this plasterboard filler tomorrow:
This is almost what I have for filling the deeper gaps. It appears that the gaps are not so deep and that there is good insulation already. I’m going to try plasterboardfiller tomorrow.
@Bevo sorry thought I’d drag you here before we both get strung up. Your IQ theory is just that, a theory and it’s only ever quoted by Kiwi expats.
Ha I know

Decided to try vinyl with the Fraim set up, so easing into “Wish you were here” for a Friday ease back with the old Rega 3. No beer in the house though…
Hi Pete, how’s the ankle coming along ?
Boot came off on Friday and I’ve started small walks and swimming. Still a bit tender every now and then but definitely on the mend. Cheers.
Sounds good. Enjoy the swimming.
Take it easy with it…the body does a quick and clumsy first repair, then pulls it apart slowly over many months to then make a full repair. Quite remarkable really.
Oddly, although you can’t use the name that has been one of the shortened forms of Richard for decades if not centuries (e.g. D1ck Turpin), the system does allow a word that rhymes with it: prick.
Freudian typo?
@frenchrooster it might give you hope that there is at least one cat on this planet fighting against the pigeon invasion.
The same dratted iPhone predictive correction as net in place of not, or with i in place of o could be fat finger syndrome… Fixed now.
