The Grand Cafe

Because prick is not a common American word used for that particular appendage, or for an idiot?

That was my assumption, too.

It almost tempts me to try a list of words to find out what is and what isnā€™t blocked - but I donā€™t have enough interest to pursueā€¦

Sir Anthony Gormley is objecting to the owner of four of his pieces of - erm - sculpture placing them on a shingle beach. He says that they were ā€œfunctional pieces of urban designā€ and were meant to ā€œstand uprightā€, and ā€œThe change of orientation and configuration of the bollards completely compromises their purpose as a piece of street furniture and the artistā€™s original intention behind the work,ā€
Isnā€™t he being a little precious? He no longer owns them - what he intended them to represent or be is, surely, irrelevant. If I used my NAP500 as a doorstop, would Naimā€™s representatives come round and demand that I return it to my music system, as they intended? What gives him the right to tell the owner of a piece of his work what they can and cannot do with it?

I think that one non-word can be so evocative!

He is being a little precious but I havenā€™t seen them so I wouldnā€™t really like to say if I thought he was right or not. Artists often complain about how their work is used, me as long as Iā€™ve got your money wouldnā€™t care. However you canā€™t print images or copy work without the artists permission even after they sell them. The artist owns the copyright.

As for your doorstop think that is entirely up to you as itā€™s a consumer goods and not considered art. Iā€™ve used one of my grandkids as a doorstop while getting things out of the car into the house.

They do indeed but mine wonā€™t stay still long enough.

Could I swap my doorstop for your 500? It is a very attractive rock doorstop.

Oh - um, let me think about itā€¦ Er - no, I think Iā€™ll keep the 500.
ISTR that Julian used a NAP120 as a doorstop.

So there you go the standard has been set.

It was an LK2 that was used as a doorstop at the factory.

Is it worth getting off your chest before shutting down for the night?

No. Thanks Pete. Iā€™ll sort it out in the morning. As if thereā€™s not enough to deal with Iā€™ve been given a new problem. I canā€™t progress things till the morning. Hopefully a phone call will help.

Back after 2.5 days on school camp with Miss Mike and 70 odd girls :flushed::clap:. Celebrating survival now with a beer and some music after catching up with Mrs Mike, a swim/spa and the Americaā€™s Cup live.

The camp went pretty well, though feeling slightly overwhelmed with how High School might look for Miss Mike with her extra learning needs. The culture and inclusion feels like it will be a sound foundation, but the supported education aspect looks like it will be an ongoing project involving many small steps. Looks like that will be my next project. Life goes on.

The NDX2 seems to sound different with the new firmware, especially the low end.
