The Grand Cafe

Frozen meat in the Kong…!

Which is a five word phrase I never envisaged typing before…

There has been a mural of John Lennon on this wall since about 84 (you can just see the top of his head above the grey paint) some one decided to paint over a few weeks ago and now it’s been tagged. In stead of seeing John while we our Saturday morning coffee all I get to see is this sht. Shame.

Looks like an opportunity for a real artist to do a reversal !

Now, who do we all know to be a real artist …
… in Australia… :sunglasses:

What would be nice…a designated music wall of fame.

Where the local artists/kids can do their own graffiti of their music idols. Hopefully, that would garner enough respect amongst the community that the kids will not ‘tag over’ the art.

Nice job! Good luck Ardberg.

I like ‘The Reapers’ hairdressers.

No it’s just a old building that use to be a movie theatre when I was young. The mural had just survived all the building incarnations.

Thanks. Since we did chat about stoves, this is what we decided to have:

Pete, your picture reminds me of this, the current one is Greta - I don’t think it will get overpainted.
There is some amazing Graffiti Art in Bristol, not just by Banksy. Pre Covid a lot of it changed yearly.

We don’t have anything of that scale in my hometown. The one I was talking about isn’t quite that up to that standard.

That should do it, big, bold and modern. :+1:t3:

Hi Geoff,

Do they change each year, as deal with the council?

Jason.

Hi @JOF There is an annual street art festival in Bristol called UpFest where artists from the area and other countries create new work. Most involve overpainting existing sites.

I don’t think the council are actively involved in as much as it is the building owners who give permission for the painting.

An excellent painting of Greta.

…and then there’s this.

An easy mistake to make.

Speaking of public art silo murals are becoming a big thing in country towns. There’s even a visitors trail (you’d need accommodation as some of the art are 100s of miles apart) that’s becoming very popular.
