True - though I did do a lot of diving around the UK (and some in Spain) which can be quite spectacular - though mostly very poor vis. Diving around Scotland (Orkneys, Outer Hebrides and both East and West coast) has some very clear water, and very good diving.
I lived for a little under 3 years in Singapore as a young lad (8-10) and absolutely loved it there. Did some snorkel diving, which was great.

For the first time in my life I forgot to alter the clocks. Itā€™s a slippery slope.

We donā€™t wind ours back till next weekend, that way we have the 4 day Easter weekend to adjust.

Our bedside clock adjusts automatically, so all I did last night was to adjust the central heating clock so it came on earlier.

Good shout. I need to do the water heater.

Our bedside clocks arenā€™t automatic, but the central heating one is !!

I deliberately have a non-auto bedside clock. I run that clock about 37 minutes fast.

This means I can lie-in until ā€œ07:00ā€ and still have 52 minutes before leaving home at 07:15 each morning for work.

Iā€™ve never understood how that works. My wife keeps her watch 5 minutes fast, so that she will be in time (though she often isnā€™t). But she knows that it is 5 minutes fast, and therefore has 5 minutes to spare. I donā€™t understand how one can fool oneself in such a way.

Neither do I. But it does. At least for me.

When I used to commute by train every day to and from London, I used to keep my watch three minutes fast, so on the way home I always had time to get from the platform barrier to the far end of the train where there might be some seats free.

Of course I knew this, but in that moment when making decisions about whether to walk fast or run as I tried to catch the train, I would glance at my watch and just not think about what the real time might be.

So I understand Don!

I grew up with house clocks like that, done by my dad - and with precisely the same nil effect! I havenā€™t inherited that, and simply have clocks reading the correct time.

At work I need to know the time to within 30 secs. I use my watch, which is always accurate to within a few seconds, and I know just how many seconds.

I avoid looking at my watch in the morning until just before I start to chomp into my breakfast - do I have enough time for two waffles, or just the one ?

I usually manage two :sunglasses:

Maybe because Iā€™ve got other things on my mind but the clocks have been a major issue all day. I couldnā€™t remember how to change the oven clock and it took me ages to find the manual. An unusual struggle with every single one. I think the bedside table clock might be lying somewhere in the garden.

Wait until you get into your car tomorrow and realise that also needs a clock reset :sunglasses:

I have a 2009 MINI convertible and a 2016 5 door MINI (my sensible car). I took the 5 door to a COVID test today, that just involved choosing settings/time from the central computer console and turning the control knob to add an hour. Tomorrow when I run the convertible to keep the battery charged Iā€™ll need to remember the sequence of indicator switch pushes I need to change that computer.
And the 2004 SLK in London is sitting outside a friendā€™s house, I think thatā€™ll just wait 6 months. :grinning:

Well actually ā€¦ our car was still on summertime last week until it got a checkup at the garage on Tuesday. This morning I noticed that they did change the time to the wintertime. Now we will have the wrong time for the next 6 months until either the winter is there, or the car needs to go for service again.

Morning all, we have a system in our place Mrs Pete changes all the digital clocks in the house (oven, microwave etc) and I do the cars. The only analog clock is a team event as it requires a ladder.

Great news for us, Europeans. The ship in the Suez canal floats again, we can now happily continue our massconsumption.

Things it looks more than a bit tricky to do #93

Land that, on that.
(Especially while the latter is moving)

So while you have parked that there, have you left some tempting toys to keep Orson amused until you get back from work?
