But I stay behind what I have experienced owning Naim for over twenty years. Suggesting bying something "worse” is not perfectly reasonable.

Without wishing to put words into HH mouth I think what he is suggesting is a balance to the system. Great speakers aren’t going to deliver in a ‘mullet’ where other components are lacking. For example the 180. My suggestion of SCM19s would, on reflection, be daft without a 250 for the same reason.
A well driven but perhaps less expensive speaker might sing better in your system than a demanding one.
It feels like you want a sub, so buy a sub. Personally I think you are trying to solve a problem potentially at the wrong ‘end’ of the chain by adding a £2k ATC sub to a £1600 loudspeaker. If you must try a sub I would buy a REL for a bit less and give it a go.

Then I dont think I need a sub. I have had the 11s twice. Sold them because I thought I would like something else more - Spendor, KEF, Neat, Naim Allae, Linn, Harbeth, Mofi… but no - The only speaker better I have heard (owned) is the ATC SCM40MKII.

Its just that the 72/180 is so engaging. I remember the 282/250-2 with the ATC SCM40MKII to be a bit “slower”
The 250-2 has a reputation of being a bit ‘heavy’. Look for a nice olive 250 if you can find one

ATCs do require a bit of oomph and as others have mentioned the NAP250/HC would add in spades the additional control, grip for the 11s.
Take my setup, some may say its a bit of a mullet with the ATC SCM20PSLT on the end of a 500DR, but boy these go low in my room, no sub required.
Room placement is always key with plenty of experimentation to dial these in.

Exactly, the black 250.2 is a bit lardy and slow. The 180 is fast without the body, and olive 250 is fast with the body. It really is the thing to get. That and a better TT!

Get the ATC C1.. It’ll be a good match.
The 180 is a great amp. And (I will repeat) some prefer it to the darker 250. You and me included.

I use REL Classic 98s in one of my set ups and wouldn’t be without but not sure about these with ATCs.
Listened to ATC active 20s from Classic series at my dealers and thought a sub was required.
If you don’t have an obliging dealer nearby try calling ATC but think the C1 would deliver what you feel is missing with your speakers currently.
If you have something like REW and a UMIK I found this to be a great help in setting up and dialling in.

Nowt slow about my 250.2; beats the proverbial out of my old olive 180.

Kept my 180 for a decade, even fully serviced it could not hold a candle to a 250.2 which had so much more verve, depth, width and nuance even unserviced and desperately requiring one! And then I DR’d it: wow!

If you like the speed of the 180 but don’t want to try the 250 because you’ve done that before, then grab a pair of 135s. End game amps.

It sounds to me that you are actually quite happy with your system.
A sub can help out but it depends on your room, where you put it etc. So be prepared to experiment a little.
Any of the options you mentioned I’m sure will work fine for you.
