The Naim New Classic range - Part 1

It is 8999 vs 5700 pound sterling. So $5700 Pounds = ~$7032.00. So you are basically getting soaked for another 2 grand - 25% more expensive.

Ouchā€¦

Whatā€™s the price in the UK? Yes, here in NZ $15K is pretty steep. I paid not a lot more than that for a 3 year old NAC552. The new range certainly is very expensive here, even compared to the Unitiā€™s and the regular classic range. Itā€™s hard to see it competing against the second hand market now.

Each of the 3 products priced the same at Ā£5700 in UK. Which compared to some parts of the world is turning out to be a relative bargain :control_knobs:

What PSU on 282 in that compare ?

I didnā€™t realize thereā€™s such a disparity in the pricing UK v rest of the world. Thatā€™s something to keep in mind if I choose to demo and trade in.

The 252 and 282 are 200 series. They run with 300 series!

So whatā€™s the issue with 222. Why is it a mullet? We donā€™t really know what the numbers mean yet.

Hi cap

Not something Iā€™d given much thought to till others in Australia and New Zealand pointed it out. I donā€™t have much to worry about, even the UK prices for me are beyond my current means :money_mouth_face:

Yeah Iā€™m in no rush to move from where I am. I made that mistake when I was at CDS2/XPS/72/HC/250 and went for the current classic line up. Fairly disappointing. My current system sounds great and is thoroughly enjoyable and Iā€™m content to let others be the guinea pigs while I consider my next move.

I guess a number of thoughts on that:

The NPX300 has been launched by Naim as a partner to the 222, so thereā€™s that. My addition to that pairing is the 300DR.

Iā€™ve read a number of comments on hear of the old 272 being paired very well with the current 300DR

I auditioned the 222 through a 500DR and it was fab.

Iā€™ll audition the new 300 amps when they come and see how that appeals, I might stick or twist. If I go for that then potentially, much further down the road, I could swap out the 222 and go full separates. I have had a bit of a journey and Iā€™m not that bothered by a bit of a mullet now and then if thatā€™s what it is. Should be fun though.

Well not so sure the 222 equals a 252 Dan

282 yes , but there is a big difference between a 282 and 252

So letā€™s wait and see Re the future

Anyone who can count knows that 222 doesnā€™t equal 252.

It should be at least 30 better.

All 3 units are on display at your local dealership. They do look really nice in person IMHO.
